Service & Support:

I bought a Lenovo G550 in October 2009. I haven’t enjoyed as much as I suffered from this laptop. Right from the day one, the numeric keys on the numeric pad was not working. In fact I bought this laptop because no other laptops had numeric keypad as desktop computers have. So, good job Lenovo. Lenovo has conned me selling this defective product and the worst is they haven’t given a replacement and harassed me during their service.

I called the Lenovo Customer Care Center, first thing first the response was unacceptable. Then somehow they convinced and diverted me to Hi-tech Informatics Pvt. Ltd. (so called Lenovo authorized center) Then the situation got worst. Ideally, since the product was defective from the day one they ideally should have given me replacement but they refused to do so. The manager at High Tech Informatics spoke in a very harsh language and said that ‘you may leave it for service or take it home and the option is yours’ . I unwillingly decided to leave it for service. I love my things as much as I love my parents. My heart really broke as it is brand new laptop. Then my wife went to collect the laptop but it was still not done. The service personnel mentioned that there is problem with the driver and he recommended one touch recovery to be done. I really doubt about the competency of the service personnel he did not mention that if one touch recovery would cause loss of data and before that data back-up should be taken. When the recovery was done, however, the numeric keypad started working but I lost all the important data on the computer. I really have suffered to the core due to his negligence.

Now that numeric keypad is fixed but I noticed the ankle made lot of noise while opening and closing notebook. I still ignored but after a month and half I notice that there is big gap at the rear side of the laptop (the laptop was not fitted properly during service) . I called Hi-Tech Informatics Pvt Ltd. and quoted the case id and mentioned about the defective service. They instead of being empathetic and addressing the concern, asked me to raise another case id with the Customer Care (less) Center.

When I called the CCC they refused to raise the case id but I insisted them to do so but again somehow they convinced me to write an email to eservice@lenovowarranty.co.in. I wrote a very strong email on Feb 6, 2010 but they did not respond at all on Feb 21, 2010 I wrote a reminder email for which replied on 25 Feb 2010 saying that my issue will be addressed and reference number was mentioned.

But until today, I didn’t receive any response from them so I decided call first to Hi-Tech Informatics Pvt Ltd and fix an appointment and then go there. But as before they insisted me to call the Customer Care Center and when I tried to insist them, they disconnected the call (I really couldn’t believe that Lenovo can be this unprofessional). Finally, I didn’t have any other option to call the CCC, but the response was same (they refused to raise any case id). They I finally decided to go directly to Hi-Tech Informatics to get it fixed. I advised them to give my laptop to a trained professional and everything should done properly. Now that my laptop looks fine but I am still not confident about the service.

People responsible for my mental and physical losses:

  1. Lenovo Sales

  2. Lenovo Service (Hi-Tech Informatics Pvt. Ltd.)

  3. Lenovo Customer Care(less) Center.

So now if you still think of buying a Lenovo laptop below are the things to consider.

  1. Do a thorough check of your laptop on purchase, both hardware and software.

  2. Never go Hi-Tech Informatics as the technicians lack competency. You may try any other

service center but I cannot guarantee.

  1. Don’t fall for any attractive offers from Lenovo (I fell for Swatch Wrist watch worth 7500 approx. but the watch is good.)

  2. If you visit any other Lenovo service center be very careful. Do a thorough check on delivery as the some technicians lack competency, they might worsen the problem.

  3. Lastly be ready spend lot of time and money to run up and down to the service center as they don’t believe in dealing the things straight forward.

  4. Lastly, don’t consider to buy Lenovo as the best option. Instead go for Del
