I stayed at Shambha-La-Hotel. Its just a kilometer far from Leh. having beautiful apple orchard, Staff of this hotel welcomes you with great hospitality. This is a family hotel, managed by the Uncle of Queen of Ladakh.
I went to ladakh with my friend, but we both stayed in different hotel, to explore more. He was staying in Lha-Ri-Sa-Resort. That was much more beautiful, very nice views from every corner from his room.
So, we go to see
Leh Palace, for every tourist the Leh palace is major attraction. Built on the lines of Patola Palace in Tibet, the landscape surrounds the Leh Palace, this looks more exotic.
It was constructed in 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal, and as mention in our History, the palace was late abandoned as the Kashmir armies besieged it in the middle of 19th century, and royal family that was residing here earlier moved to Stok palace. Above the Leh palace there is a hill named Namgyal, it is the Victory tower, built for commemorate Ladakh's victory over the Balti Kashmir armies in 16th century.
Than we visited to see Tso-Moriri Lake, all names are little difficult to pronounce.
This lake is picturesquely located in breathtakingly Rupshu Valley. You can only visit here with permit. It is about 13000 ft above sea level, 29 km long and 8 km wide. Surrounded by Mountains. This lake attracts wildlife like marmots, migratory birds, Tibetan wolves.
Then we went to local market and bought some Carpets and Rugs.
These all are hand woven. These are little thick but best in quality.
The Ladakh Art Place and the Tibetan Handicraft Emporium, both places are best for shopping. Must visit their in Summer.
