Awesome designs,high on the price, Bad service. Review on Lawrence and Mayo Sunglasses

I have been wearing specs for the last 14 years. I was loyal to my good old next door local optician for the frame and glasses for like 12 years. Since the last 2 years I switched to another optician whose designs were better and quality of work superior.  By quality of work, I mean the cut of the glass and the way its fitted inside the frame.I am not a fiber glass(which is essentially plastic) person.Examples of which include the over-rated Carl Zeiss, Crisal et al. I think that because of my overly oily skin, these kind of products get my oily finger prints quite easily. Outrightly NO. I know for a fact that a Glass is prone to breakage, but having 14 years of experience I have always tried to minimize the risks as I have no control on the inevitable breakage.

Now coming to the review:But first the disclaimer:

-Note that this review is more about the service rather than the product itself.The purpose of this review is to better guide the people who stay in and around the Aundh area in Pune and are likely to visit the L & M showroom-

So, I finish my doctors appointment and my power has increased for both the eyes.Now begins the search to find a good optician where I can select my new frame and glasses.Boy! I love this part, even though I am sad that the power has been consistently increasing since the last 14 years I am happy everytime when I get to wear new frames almost every year.

The places and the  surrounding areas where I stay are Baner, Aundh, Sus Road, Shivaji nagar. Now I am new to Pune and didn;t know any local opticians which are good coz you get to bargain unlike the branded stores. So, I first narrow down my list to the following shops in Aundh

International Optics

Titan Eye wear

Avis Optics( which was impromptu; as it was opposite the doctor's clinic)

Note than L&M was not in the list, but was accidentally discovered later and that International Optics was untraceable because I am hopelessly  bad at navigating.

So, I first visit Titan Eye showroom near Parihar chowk, Aundh.Even before I enter this showroom, I discovered the L&M showroom hiding itself from the big shops around it.I made up my mind that I would visit it first, but I was just 10-15 steps away from entering the Titan Eye showroom.So, I thought, ok lemme visit the TE showroom first. I enter. There were staff explaining the customers, no one really attended me or asked for assistance, which is fine as I did not want  to be disturbed.Five minutes in the showroom and I exit and desperate to enter the L&M showroom which never showed up in the Google maps and hence was not in my list.So, I enter the L&M showroom and am in totally in love with the designs. What a range! I am totally impressed.The staff seemed very professional, all dressed up in formals and have worn a tie. Impressive. Now all the staff is busy attending and explaining the customers. So,  I wait. 5 minutes passed. Now I have shortlisted about 10 -15 specs and desperately waiting for the staff to get free and show me those.Guess what I am waiting 15 minutes passed. 20 minutes. I see 2 customers leave and 2 enter. The staff is now explaining the new customers and they start talking in Marathi. So, I am really really furious! I  was here before and I have been waiting patiently for the staff to get free and attend me.BUT NO.never happened.Then I asked the staff near me, he asked me to WAIT .How long bloody hell, Do I need to take an appointment here? I asked. No sir! please wait and I will call. Guess what! I waited for another 7 minutes and then I LEAVE.Lawrence and Mayo you just lost a potential customer.

I got to the good old optician just opposite my doctor's clinic and there was only 1 staff already attending 3 people. After about 20 seconds of me entering she came running and asked for help. After about 1 minute her brother even though attending 2 other customers came down from the first floor and showed me a dozen frames."'That is customer service-Lawrence and Mayo, learn a thing or two".After some of the customers leave, this guy quickly understood my taste and showed me a cool Levi's frame and .and offered me a big discount.Woah!.Never going to branded stores now.sticking to the good old next door optician.
