I visited Lansdowne in August with my girl friend. It’s a fantastic place for couples, for it is less crowded and hub of Gorkha Army Regiment. The place offers the splendid view of local flora and fauna and trees like oak, cedar and fir look marvelous from every point. We drove 40 kilometers up from Kotdwar station. Along with the road runs a parallel rapid river which is simply amazing and we feel like movie stars, though we didn’t stop to have fun in it. Next time we’ll do that. At Lansdowne we didn’t find anything commercial except a local market. We boated in the Bhullar Lake and roamed around the hilly ways like children. The locals of the place are friendly and due to army presence this place bears a comfortable security ambience. There mist was coming and going like smoke. It’s a good place to live at least for a week or so, away from crowded cities. From Delhi to Kotdwar, two trains are available.
