Apologies for penning a review under wrong category. Only afterwards I came to know about the feature called "Mouthpad"

Oflate I realised that many of my friends dont even know Shiv - Hari the music duo is Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma (Master in Santoor) and Hari Prasad Chaurasia (Master of bansuri) . Well - those who dont know this yet - please appreciate the fact the these maestros gave music to limited number of movies (Notable scores are from the movies -Sahebaan, Chandni, Silsila, Lamhe, Parampara, Darr ---) but still these songs are close to our heart.

Kabhi Mein Kahoon - the song from Lamhe is a stand alone score from their side which I hold close to my heart. The reasons being,

  • The variation of notes in this song is so different and cannot be matched with any other songs. The rhythm, music, mood, high pitch to low pitch, introduction of chorus ----. The song is based on various moods and such a variety in one song with continuity is something which I have never noticed in my life.

For example - Let us take the song "Duniya ke rakhwale from Baiju Bawra :" - Fantastic score from Naushadji but the difference between this song and Kabhi Mein Kahoo lies in the fact that the former is based only one one theme, one mood and Naushadji did a fantastic score based on the same. But the latter - the complexities involved are too high - and I dont know - to which category should I include this song. This is not a comparison of the genius of Naushad and Shiv - Hari. The illustration is just to specify the difference between songs belonging to different genre.

  • Orchestration - Just listen to this song when Hariharan sings "Kabhi Mein Kahoo" and suddenly you will listen to the Tabala score like horse marching with fantastic variation which you have never heard in any other song ! Did you get it? Who else other than Ustad Zakir Hussain can bring in such a magic? Yes - it is Zakir Hussain who played Tabala for this song, so is Shiv Kumar Sharma with Santoor and Hari Prasad Chaurasia with Bansuri ---

One of the rarest songs where in maestros themselves performed with their instruments!!!!!

Just listen the small note of bansuri after the line "Paas Paas Hum Saath Saath Yun Baithe Rahe

Ek Dusre Se Yehi Kehte Rahe" ----- God, I feel like in heaven and dont know how many times I listened to small wonderful note of Bansuri.

And Hariharan sung this song before colonial cousin era where in he was not having pony tail haristyle and all --- and the difference is seen as his sincerity to classical music.

Lataji - as always , charming ---- even if old age symptoms are obvious --

I request all my friends to listen to this song once again after reading the review and experience the master signature of the music genius - you will appreciate the same!
