Lakshya - The word is Lakshya!. Review on Lakshya

LAKSHYA the word is LAKSHYA and the word for the film is awesome. This was one of the most awaited films of the year,since it was Farhan Akhtar's second film and had a cast comprising of actors like AMITABH BACHCHAN, HRITHIK ROSHAN, BOMAN IRANI and PREITY ZINTA............the film lived upto every bit of expectation. LAKSHYA may not be a classic but it surely has its moment which makes you stand up and applaud for FARHAN. I saw the film twice in the theatre and loved every bit of it.............

STORY.............the film is the coming of age story of a DELHI guy KARAN SHERGILL. How he finds his lakshya in the back drop of the KARGIL WAR forms the essence of the story.

ACTING.............the cast of the film is perfect and all the actors suit their role to the T.

HRITHIK ROSHAN.............comes up with a splendid performance,his expression and body language are spot on,he dances brilliantly and looks great.Good to see him experimenting with his roles.

AMITABH BACHCHAN...........as mAJOR SUNIL DAMLE is great in a small role........

PREITY ZINTA plays a TV journalist ROMILA DUTTA and does her part well,though her look in the film is not particularly great.

BOMAN IRANI aS Hrithik's dad is good as always.

SUSHANT SINGH,SHARAD KAPOOR and the rest of the cast is brilliant...........all the character actors have come up with a very controlled performance. There is OM PURI too in the film............but wish, for all his talent was not wasted in such a insignificant role.

MUSIC............I love the music of the film.SHANKAR-LOY-EHSAAN came up with a very inspiring and refreshing score,completely in sync with the mood of the film. My personal favourite tracks from the film are the title song, KANDHON SE MILTE HAI and Main aisa kyon hu. Seperation and Victory the two instrumental pieces are outstanding and very well used in the film. Overall a good score.

DIRECTION..............is spot on by FARHAN AKHTAR,this is his second film and very different from the previous one but he handles the film with great maturity and class. FARHAN is a talent to watch out for................his films always have a soul and the characters in his films always touch a chord somewhere.Some of the scenes between HRITHIK and his dad, Preity and her fiance and all the scenes post the Kargil war are brilliantly handeled. The rock climbing scene was to die for.............cinematically it was brilliant. There are lot of fun moments in the film in the first half..........i also loved the way he handeled the scenes between HRITHIK and PREITY, everything in those scenes was conveyed through the expressions. My favourite scene in the film is the one in which Hrithik Graduates with his fellow friends.............it was brilliantly shot.I also loved the way Lakshya(title song)was picturised.............it is so inspiring. Great effort by FARHAN AKHTAR.............on the whole and though the film does get slow towards the second half,there is not a dull moment.

The cherography,cinematography and dialouges are also worth praising..............LADAKH has been beautifuuly shot.

I loved everything about LAKSHYA and it is films like<B b < M.B.B.S,PINJAR,LAKSHYA BHAI THI,MUNNA HASINA KHAKEE,EK>that restore my faith in HINDI CINEMA. Directors like RKS, RGV and FARHAN AKHTARhave kept INDIAN CINEMA alive..............atleast I wait for their films. And it is upto the audience to appreciate films like these so that the film-makers can be assured that there are people who want to watch their films and they should come up with more experimental stuff..Till then watch LAKSHYA...............and enjoy it.
