3 years ago,in 2001 a very fresh film,which is still very fresh in our minds,was made by the debutante director Farhan Akhtar,which is known as ?Dil Chahta Hai?.This film gave Bollywood a new idea-how to entertain the youth?From then,many films like ?Dil Chahta Hai? were made in Bollywood,but none of them,was as good as ?Dil Chahta Hai?.
Now,Farhan Akhtar is back with the film ?Lakshya?,which is completely different from his first film,as a director.This film has Hrithik Roshan as the protagonist. Hrithik Roshan, after ?Koi Mil Gaya?, jumped onto the top position. He has become too choosy about his films and after a year, his film has released. Now,there are two names associated with this film-Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan which may cause sky-high expectations, amongst the audiences.

And UTV Motion Pictures.?Lakshya?,produced by ?Ritesh Sidwani? and directed by Farhan Akhtar stars,Amitabh Bachchan,Hrithik Roshan,Preity Zinta,Sushant Singh,Sharad Kapoor,Amrish Puri,Boman Irani,Om Puri and Lillette Dubey.The team of ?Dil Chahta Hai? is back with this film,and for sure there are lots of expectations from this film.Farhan Akhtar,comes with a very different film,this time.His last film was about three young friends but this time it is about a boy whose life leads him to such situations which he could never think of.Now,let`s see how the same director makes a completely different film,from ?Dil Chahta Hai?.
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Karan Shergill(Hrithik Roshan):?It took him 24 years and 18000 feet to find himself?.Karan is a careless person.He is no less than a loser,in life.He yawns everytime,lives casually and has no aim in life until he joins the army.That is when he discovers himself.Hrithik Roshan is back after such a long break,but he is excellent.How he shows the transformation of a careless boy to a serious man,is remarkable.Like Salman Khan in ?Tere Naam?,he has long,silky hair in the first half and he is almost bald in the second half.His hairstyle in the first half,looks cool.If you think that in ?Koi Mil Gaya?,he proved that he is an actor and ca act then with ?Lakshya? he takes a step further,making you believe that no one can act like him.This performance will surely win him lots of praises.After ?Lakshya?,he has not signed any film,at all.Is he going the Aamir Khan way???Well,let`s hope that in whatever film we see him next time,he shall be as good as much as he is in this one.What a bravura performance!
2.Romila Dutta(Preity Zinta):Romila Dutta is Karan`s love interest,his girlfriend.This girl,later becomes a journalist,and is giving the coverage of the Kargil war,in which her boyfriend Karan,is also fighting.Preity Zinta,doesn`t have a much lengthy role,as this is a Hrithik Roshan film from A-Z,but still,she also does a wonderful job,as the journalist.She makes her presence felt,throughout the movie,so her fans should not be disappointed.She has actually tried to act like NDTV reporter,Barkha Dutt,as the rumors are.Even she has two hairstyles.In the first half,she has got Maggi Noodles on her head,where as in the second half,she has got a bird`s nest,on her head.Strange hairstyles,but she looks cute with the maggi noodles on her head.I feel,that she makes a great pair with Hrithik Roshan.First,she was with him in ?Mission Kashmir?,then ?Koi Mil Gaya? and now ?Lakshya?.
3.Col.Sunil Damle(Amitabh Bachchan):Colonel Sunil Damle,is a very brave and an honest army man.He supports and teaches Karan,how to adjust in the army and how army men behave.Amitabh Bachchan,also doesn`t have that much of a lengthier role,like the one he had in ?Dev?,but he makes you feel as if the Big B,is present.he does full justice to Sunil Damle`s role and his scenes with Hrithik Roshan are brilliant.After ?Khakee?,in ?Lakshya?,too he has removed his beard.He looks good.Having him in the film,is great as you can see two excellent actors on screen-Hrithik Roshan and him,together.
The supporting cast,is no less.Boman Irani as Karan`s father is as usual,awesome.His ?daddy cool? act is a joy to watch.The way he convinces his son,that he needs to be something in life,is fantastic.This is another feather in his cap.Sushant Singh is another supporting actor who gives a clapworthy performance.He has done an excellent job.Sharad Kapoor,is back on the silver screen,after a long time,and does a good job.Om Puri is fantastic as Major Pritam.Others are good,too.
THE STORY:
The story revolves around a young boy, a college student,who is not so serious in life. He takes life very easily and he doesn`t have any plans about what to do,in future.He just knows how to enjoy.He loves his car,CDs,etc. and of course, Romila Dutta, a childhood friend. Whenever his father, tries to explain him,that he needs to think about his life, he doesn`t listen to him seriously and carefully. He just avoids all what his father says, but then he realizes that he should do something, as everyone thinks that he is of no use. One day, while his friend is applying for joining the army, he decides to join,too. That is when, his life changes.
He becomes an army man and finds out the way they live. He starts feeling that he doesn`t have the courage which is needed to be an army man, so he quietly leaves the army and goes back home. Romila gets upset with karan and breaks up her relationship with him. Then, Karan decides to join the army again, with a serious mind. At this point, a strong man comes out from this young boy`s body. Everything starts changing. What Karan sometime back, could have not even expected becomes a part of his life. He takes part in the Kargil war, in which Col. Sunil Damle trains him. Romila, by then, becomes a TV reporter, who is giving the coverage of this war. Karan`s life starts changing tracks,he is a completely new person, a changed character.
THE WORK OF THE CREW:
Farhan Akhtar again succeeds to make a gripping film. The character, Karan, is the one on whom the whole film is based and how the director has shown the changes in his life are worth noticing. The first half, is entertaining and the second half is very interesting. The scenes where there are the early days of Karan in the army and he is observing their lifestyle will get your attention. The scenes between Col. Sunil Damle and Karan are also very interesting.
