“Oh my God Neha! Is that really you? Why you have tanned and your skin looks dry!”, and a sad Neha looks into the mirror and feels her dry skin .Sounds like an Ad right but this a snippet we get to hear almost everyday of our life if we happen to be the unfortunate victim of the sun’s wrath. And the best remedy anyone would suggest apart from cooling it out at home and gulping pots of cool drinks would be a sunscreen.

I personally recommend Lakme suncreen Lotion and before I embark on an explanation as to why? let me give you a few tips on how harmful the sun’s UV rays could be and how a suncreen would help.

Protecting your skin from UV rays is a must all year-round, not just in the summer months. UV rays penetrate cloud covers and are not affected by temperature. UV radiation is also reflected or scattered by different surfaces. Snow, for example, can reflect as much as 80 percent of UV radiation and UV levels increase significantly as altitude increases. Winter sports such as skiing present an opportunity for UV exposure as intense as a day at the beach or at our very own hot roads.

Several risk factors increase the chance of skin cancer, but everyone is at risk of developing it. Some of these risk factors include: having fair skin that freckles easily; living in warm climates with high sun exposure and/or high altitudes; occupational exposure, such as working outdoors; overall lifetime exposure to the sun; and having many moles.

Indian skin needs special protection. People in a tropical country like India have a different profile of melanin (size, shape and distribution) than European skin. While this helps protect Indian skin from sunburn, it makes it more susceptible to darkening. European skin, on the other hand, is more prone to sunburn. Therefore sunscreens for Indian skin should mainly protect skin form darkening.

Time for me to tell you why I recommend the Lakme Sunscreen Lotion. We (here I mean a few other honourable members of my family) pamper our skin with the same. Well…I would be exaggerating (also I know you wouldn’t believe me) if I tell that you I have turned into a beautiful damsel looking Fair & Lovely so much so that the moon hides behind the clouds in shame, but I’d certainly say that it helps me maintain the natural skin colour and tone and leaves the skin soft and supple.

Lakme Sunscreen Lotion with UV guard, TPI 70 and AlpineTm Mint extracts with a 100% oil free sunscreen formula especially designed to provide your skin freshness and nourishment proves what it claims to be. It seems an improved blend of UVA/UVB filters provide you a broad band of SPF and TPI protection.

Key Ingredients like Octyl methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxy Dibenzolymethane, Titanium Dioxide, Menthyl Lactate filter the UVA and UVB rays and also protects your skin.

To use it, all ye need to do is massage the lotion gently in an upward direction on face and neck whenever and a little before you step out into the sun.

Psst: Guys! Don’t brush this off as a girlish thing .You may want to be the Tall, Dark, Handsome hero right out of the Mills & Boon series but don’t forget that girls go Ga Ga over a beautiful skin (unless ofcourse you yourself don’t turn out to be her competitor in this regards).

Go on; pamper yourself and bask in the glory of all those compliments coming your way.
