The makeup scene has drastically changed in India over the last decade. There was one time when there were only a few makeup products available in the Indian market. Lakme is definitely one of the old players in the market. I fondly remember my first foundation, eyeliner, kaajal, eyebrow pencil and lipstick everything was from lakme. I still continue to use some of these products. Lakme foundation is one of the oldest foundations in India. I've done stage performances since I was very young and Lakme foundation has always been there backstage. The only purpose of foundation back then was to look fair so that you look good when the stage light falls on your face.
However other drugstore foundations have replaced my backstage makeup today but I still own a bottle of this foundation. It has a medium to high coverage. If you use it over a primer, blend it with a brush or beauty blender, set it with powder followed by a makeup setting spray it works fine. But if you are a beginner or not interested to follow so many steps this foundation is definitely not for you.
PROS - affordable, gives a natural finish provided you have followed the above mentioned steps, medium to high coverage , has spf in it.
CONS - Difficult to blend, can give you dry patches, glass bottle so not travel friendly, messy application, shade range is not good.
VERDICT- If we were in 2008 I would have probably recommended this to you but in 2018 you have many substitutes.
I wish there was an ok button in mouthshut. I can't say if I like it or dislike it. Maybe somewhere in between.
