Lajja could have been a much better film if there had been a limit set to the plot of the movie.
If the plot of Lajja was to show how women still suffer in India even today it would have taken one whole day of film. So when even four facets of the suffering were tried out the film lost its focus.
It was a desperate try to make a art sort of film look like a mega commercial one. The end result was that it lost appreciation in both aspects.
I watched this movie along with four girls and the most amazing thing is that we all landed up with severe headaches!!!
The cast of the movie was good though, there were a lot of expectations because of such a showdown of stars. Among the lot Madhuri was the best, maybe also because of the role she had. Everyone in the movie acted upto their potential but they all seemed as if they wanted more time to perform. Manisha's job in the movie was to only see the sufferings and cry everywhere she went and finally the outburst.
The most amazing thing is that the movie even failed to motivate the women who watched this movie.
If it hadn't been the curiosity of seeing how worse Raj Kumar Santoshi could perform and the hefty ticket sum that we paid I would have zoomed out in the interval itself.
''Haan mujhe Lajja nahi aati yeh kehte hue'' :)
