LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI is mindblowingly entertaining!!
The expectations from Lage Raho Munnabhai were huge. So does the movie live up to the expectations?? Well in terms of quality the movie is a winner from the very first scene to the very last! In short LRM is mindblowingly entertaining and it retains the feel-good element that was seen in the Munnabhai M.B.B.S.I don't think I've had this much fun watching a Bollywood film in a loong time!!
The biggest plus point of the movie is its orignal and intresting script by VVC and Raju Hirani. It shows in the movie how hard they have work and how time they have spent in writing the script! Hats off to Raju Hirani (especially) and VVC..
The story of the movie is simple but honest treatment by Raju Hirani makes the movie work. The screenplay is simply brilliant and the movie moves forward at a breakneck pace keeping the viewer engrossed in the story plenty of non-stop laughs as well as few tears right through thats how entertaining the film is. It never drags!! Therefore imo the real hero of the film is Rajkumar Hirani!
The songs are average (though I liked them from the very first listen) but they have been picturized mindblowingly (esp. Samjho ho hi gaya) and not for once do they hold the narrative except Pal Pal.. which is a nice song but wasn't required!
The Performances are yet again of high caliber!
Vidya Balan is natural and looks gorgeous throughout the film.
Boman Irani as Lucky Sing is terrifc yet again though his role is not as good as Dr. Asthana of Munnabhai M.B.B.S.but he slips easily into his Punjabi character and is a treat to watch!
The two pillars of Munnabhai series are Munna and Circuit and will always remain so!
Arshad Warsi has acted so fabulously that he quite outdoes his turn in Munnabhai M.B.B.S.He was good in the orignal but here he is unmatchable! He is simply mindblowing. One cannot imagine Munnabhai without Circuit!
Which bring us to our Munnabhai bole to apna Sanju Baba. One might say that he looks too old in the film, that Jhanvi looks young enough to be his daughter, that he has put on weight. IMO one would be right about all these things , and yet none of it seems to matther, so lovable is Dutt in this film. He is so endearing that we smile wiithout a reason the moment we see him. It is difficult to even imagine another actor playing Munna, as Munna fits Dutt to the T (I'll say same for Circuit). What a charming performance!
On the finishing not I wud like to say that the Chemistry between Sanjay and Arshad is electrifying. It makes my heart melt (spoiler: witness the apology scene)!! They have officially become one of my most fav. (if not the most) bollywood jodis.
I am still undecided as to which part is better.. I guess i'll leave to upon my second viewing to decide! As for this year my first viewing is enough for me to say that LRM is the best movie of the year (followed closely by Zinda, RDB & Omkara) and most certainly my most fav. movie of the year!!
