After 3 years come the 2 very loved and wanted characters , Munna and Circuit , in the 2nd movie (which thankfully isnt a sequel). And what a 2nd coming it is !! Simply Awesome !
The story - in short , I wont get into details -
Munna and Circuit work for Lucky Singh a builder who wamts a particular piece of land in Mumbai to gift his daughter's inlaws . Munna is in love with RJ Janhvi who stays in the very house on the peice of land that Lucky Singh wants.
Munna impresses Janhvi posing as History Professor who is a Gandhian and also follows the rules laid down by Gandhiji. The problem arises when Munna starts "seeing" Gandhiji in person and Gandhiji then guides Munna to win back his love and Janhvi's house with totally NONVOILENT ways which Munna is not used to.
A simple story told quite a few times on cinema before but never before has it been told so simply yet effectively with doses of humour and reality. And boy it works - works like a charm !
The Performances -
Sanjay Dutt (Munna) - Sanjay is Munna or is Munna, Sanjay ?? As good a performance in the 1st part.
Arshad Warsi (Circuit) - Another brilliant potrayal of the loyal sidekick by Arshad. Brilliant.
Vidya Balan (Janhvi) - Has nothing much to do except a couple of RJing scenes but is very effective.
Boman Irani (Lucky Singh) - Absolutely rocking performance ! Lucky has to be good , evil , confused , a doting father , a shrewd businessman and what not - Boman manages all this effortlessly. The fact that you simply dont hate Lucky even after all his bad doings prove that Boman plays this perfect.
Dilip Prabhavalkar (Gandhiji) - Another SIMPLE potrayal yet very very effective.
plus we have the regulars - Jimmy Shergill , Dia Mirza, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and the likes who are proven peformers.
Music is in absolute sync with the story and its situations but hear it on your stereo and you would fast forward the songs.
But my REAL HEROES of the movie - Rajkumar Hirani (Director, story , editor, dialouges) and Mr. Joshi (co-writer) .
The movie is so SIMPLE yet so EFFECTIVE - you have to see it to believe it. An absolute treat.
After the movie is over , all I ask is -
PHIR KAB MUNNABHAI ? JALDI AANA MAMU ! Apun log ko zyada tension nahin deneka !
