What have we come to! It takes a Lage Raho Munna Bhai to wake us up and remind us of the importance of truth and non-violence ( I would like to call it peaceful persuasion). I think the greatest achievement of this film is this message of truth and peace that it is able to convey through comedy though at times sloppily. In today's world full of anger, violence and crime we need to understand that the way out of chaos is to follow the path of truth, peace and love. To me this movie is an average movie, as a movie nowhere near the original Munnabhai but however a must see if not for anything but the message it conveys in a manner that has appealed to the masses.
I rate the performance of arshad warsi on top in this film. he is a natural actor. The ease with which he performs is commendable. Sanjay Dutt has come a long way since his early days and is a star actor to contend with currently though I am not too impressed with his performance in this movie. His performance in the original version was far superior. maybe its due to the potential of the role. Boman Irani is a good actor but somehow I thought that he has been miscast in this movie. Vidya Balan is attractive, good actress but tended to overact, maybe due to the type of character that she had to portray. She was superb in Parineeta and I am sure will soon be the top actress in Bollywood.
Somewhere in the back of my mind there is a nagging feeling which says that the movie did not do justice to the Great Mahatma Gandhi. This great man and his message not only to the country but to the whole world is much more relevant today than ever and I do not blame the Producer Director as his persona is not something that can be dealt with in a movie like this. He was nothing less than a living God. However I still commend the makers of this movie for having had the courage to weave the great Mahatma into the plot.
