I know this review is very late, since this movie released last year.
After reading almost all the reviews written on this movie at this site, just annoyed me - some simply loved it! (and they are right).
I do believe that everybody has different taste and their own opinion but what annoyed me was the thought that people who didn?t like this movie, they gave silly reasons like, songs were bad, war scenes seemed fake, lot of movie stars, movie was too long, actress were wasted and just had sobbing ladies?etc?etc?
I don?t know about you but these reasons for not liking the movie are just simply STUPID!
With this movie failing to create a Box office buzz and no recognition at any Award function and a --- Simply, makes me question audience?s intelligence & taste.
Are we the audience becoming stupider?we must be since a movie that poked fun at ?alternative lifestyle?, Kal Ho Na Ho hit the Box office jackpot and brilliant movies like 3 Deewarein not even releasing to theatres. Anyways, now my review of LOC.

I liked the movie about the Kargil war. I am proud that Mr. J.P Dutta took sucha big step to make this movie, it shows that he did a lot of research on each and every solider portrayed by many of the talented Bollywood actors ( Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Manoj Bajpai, Nagarjuna, Ashutosh Rana, Ajay Devgan, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Kapoor, Karan Nath, Puru Raajkumar,many more)
I believe that this movie is a fitting tribute to the fallen solider and those who are still fighting for our freedom.
Movie tells the story of five specific soldiers, Manoj Pandey, Vikram Batra, Anuj Nayyar, Yogendra, & Yogendra (played by Manoj Bajpai). [Sorry I do not remember their posts (Capt. Or Major)].
This movie takes some time and shows what the real solider is going through and their families and not just a patriotic talk that India is the Best ! (well it is!)
Even though, the actresses in the movie didn?t get much scope but their one-two song sequence was beautifully pasteurized and their emotional scenes with their husband or bf was displayed very wonderfully. You feel sorry for those families ?. Who lost their sons. I was surprised by the talent of Maya Alag (wow she sounded so different - she was wonderful as a Bihari mother to Ajay Devgan?s mom).
Kareena Kapoorwas the same a ziddi Punjabi kudi, Esha Deollooked pretty, Rani showed the best talent.. Akansha- Priya Gill-Preeti Jhighani-Mahima-Divya Dutta - & Isha kopikardon?t get much scope.
DirectionBy J.P. Dutta deserves a National Award for directing such a movie.
Music byAnu Malik doesn?t come close to Border music but he doesn?t disappoint with sweet songs like ?Pyar Bhara Geet? and ?Seemayein Bulayein? and heart wrenching songs like ?Ek Saathi aur bhi? & ?Main Kahi Bhi Rahoon?.
Lyrics by Javed Akhtar produces another heart touching wordings and makes you feel that each word has so many meanings?
Acting by all is impressive. Especially Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpai(who should have received the best supporting award for his brilliant acting), Ashutosh Rana, Karan Nath & Akshay Khanna.

1-A war that has been going on for so long, and has taken so many lives from both sides, 4 hr long movie doesn?t even do justice to the people who lost their lives.
2-And some people keep on saying that this movie had so many Bollywood actors -- ask yourself this -- If this movie had just any newcomer, would you have gone to see this movie. I really don?t understand that comment about having these talented actors. That?s their job, J.P. Dutta just chose those people who would fit the bill of the ?real? soldiers.
3-It was a war movie, so to have actresses is not a important point.
4-Hellooo? Mr. Premjit said that soo many sobbing ladies - it?s a war movie, their husband is dying ? what do you expect .. Them to have a party !
5-Saif Ali Khan?s role of Cpt. Anuj Nayyar was also the basic story of DHOOP.
6-Movie is full of emotions and moments that will touch your heart.

If you haven?t seen this movie, go watch it now!I know you will love it! This movie doesn?t need to be ridiculed by movie critics (even me) since this movie tells the REAL life story of soldiers. It?s not fiction! I suggest you to go watch this movie without thinking about the length of it.
