This my first review on a Scooter and will probably be the last. I admit that neither am I good driver of scooter nor I will be the person to know a lot about scooter. But this is one of the scooter I have ridden(didn't own, friends), and want to share my experience with one and all.

Bike is always my first choice, being a bachelor, but its the need, that justifies your decision while buying a Two-Wheeler. If you are going to go family way soon, or if you already have family, or if you travel usually with a lot of lugage, or its going to be the first two-wheeler in the family, then definitely Scooter should be the choice.

Why LML Select ?

But why LML, why not Bajaj, when the oldest brand(Bajaj) has come up with so many new Scooters. Firstly, Balance,LML, usually comes with a Spare Tyre, on the left side, that balances the vehicle's weight with the weight of the Engine on right side. Secondly, Bajaj has forced it way into the Motorcycle market, in a big way, and all its R&D is currently dedicated to the Bike Sector, though LML has favored Bike market too, but still it has separate R&D handling both units. Third and the most important, LML requires less maintenance than Bajaj and usually provides a better mileage than its compatriot 2-stroke scooters.

Maintenance :

Though considerably less than Bajaj still too much. The Select's Body is weak compared to NV (different models under the same brand). The extensive electronics, usually comes cropper, after 3000 kms. or 3 months, which ever is earlier. The anti-skid brakes, takes their toll on the tyre and the tyres don't last the usual term. The suspension has always an cause to worry about in all scooters, so is the case with Select II. Fuel meter not worth putting on display.

Power :

Select II, provides excellent Power. It has a great Pick-Up, and does 100kmph with ease. I personally did 110Kmph on Select. But after 90kmph, there is a shiver. Most probably due to the Aerodynamics, that each scooter lacks. The shiver that occurs at the handle is not an unusual thing, for scooters.

Mileage :

Gives around 40-45kmpl, which is satisfactory, considering Scooters. But to get 45kmpl, you have to handle the scooter carefully, and with love.

Sales & Service :

LML, whether bike or scooter, has a very good sales record. The vehicle, especially scooters are delivered that day itself. As far as the second-hand sale value or resale value is concerned, the future is very gloomy.

Service centers for LML is easily locatable. The service network is quite extensive, and the service people do provide good help(that depends).

Appealing Factors :

Its got a 150cc Engine, read somewhere ...phew.

Great Pick-up, reminds you of Yamaha RX100.

Extensive Electronics.

Half-Kick Start.

Anti Skid Brakes.

Interesting Shades of Color.

Verdict :

Good scooter, if you have totally dropped the idea of buying a bike. For family there is somehow a comfort factor with NV. But if you test driven Select II, you won't be disappointed. But Maintenance Cost, Low Mileage and Low Resale Value disappoints

Note :With all things in mind, I would have liked to recommend this scooter, but won't because, when you are planning to buy a scooter it because, you usually wants to have a check on Buying Price, Maintenance, mileage etc. etc., and not power. So buying LML Select won't make economic sense which is what a scooter buyer looks for, therefore I won't recommend LML Select II to my friends.
