Earlier it was a competition to see who had the biggest and then it came to clarity, sharpness, and how well it stood up to its competitors. Now, the game has just gotten better, with almost all LCD battles being fought over design. Manufacturers have managed to come up with something out of the ordinary - be it the diamond studded TV by Philips or the Series 6 by Samsung.

We have with us a LG Scarlet LC 32LG60UR, which is the 32-inch Scarlet LCD TV and having seen the ads on every television channel, I couldn't wait to get it out of the box.

We tested the LG 32LG60UR by playing DVDs, Divx and 720p mkv files, a computer, and of course, CAS TV transmission.

The 32LG60UR gives good picture quality, colour and contrast ratio. The images look lively and are a pleasure to look at. Since the panel has a refresh rate of 100Hz, it handles motion visual much better eliminates ghosting when watching hi-speed car chases and the likes. Also, these objects look sharper most of their details clearly visible.

With the 50000:1 contrast ratio kicking in, the dark scenes look really great, as do the vibrant color tones. The skin tones are reproduced much better than what we've seen from LG so far. But at times, the colors and objects appear to be unnaturally vibrant and sharper when using any one the preset viewing modes.

With proper 720p videos, full power of the Scarlet was shown as the screen just jumps to life with great clarity and color and skin tone reproduction. The only problem was the sound. Since the sound drivers are placed inside the bezel there are times when the lows and the mids sound are muffled.

Overall, the LG 32LG60UR Scarlet gives a great audio/visual experience and though it's not as good as the top-of-the-line models from Sony, Sharp or Samsung, it still holds its own among these giants.

It's available with a standard 1-year warranty. The price of the same seems to be a little too high for the Scarlet but paradoxically; is one of the lowest priced lifestyle televisions here. But, I'd still prefer the regular range of LG LCD TV rather than go for this one.
