Value for Money:

When I read the notification saying Google is launching two Nexus devices in September 2015, I was curious to know about the successor to our beloved LG Nexus 5( 2013) . Nexus 5X is rather a good upgrade if you are already using a Nexus 5 for the past two years, but is it worth spending the money? I'll try to give my opinion here.

I'll try to cover the topics from what you see from the outside and then I will proceed towards what really it is made of.

Design:

Nexus 5X is a slim and really handy( thanks to the perfect size of the device) smartphone with good cutting/tapering around the edges and to be honest, possesses a simple yet attractive design. It really resembles like the Nexus 5 but I noticed few additions to the design which LG tried to cover from the last Nexus they produced.

Bezels are fine, the buttons are perfectly placed and click very well.

Build Quality:

Fans of phones made of Aluminium/Metal or even Glass might say it looks cheap, but it definitely isn't. I myself like the rubber-coated back which provides a lot better grip than the metal constructed smartphones. Overall build quality is solid, doesn't bend at all, doesn't squeak at all.

Speakers:

The single front facing speakers which are loud enough for one or maybe two persons to hear, but not for a big group of pals. It is somewhat better than most of the budget smartphones, but to be frank, not that great.

Display:

With a 5.2 inches, full HD, IPS LCD touchscreen, offering a great PPI Pixel density of 423( approx.) this device shines as it is supposed to. It is bright enough for viewing your content outdoors but not so bright compared to other AMOLED screens. Pixels produce accurate colours, but the overall output of the display is  above average.

Camera:

Nexus 5X includes the same optics as in the Nexus 6P, except the front facing 5MP shooter( which is decent enough for selfies) . The rear camera shoots beautiful and sharp photos with a 12.3MP sensor. Without any doubt, Google improved this section.

Software:

Android Marshmallow 6.0 makes this device fly. Since it's a Nexus, it will always get the latest updates whenever Google releases them over the air. On a daily usage one can never notice any lag. But mentioning the fact, the 2GB RAM cant always be invincible, with a dozen or more apps opened in the background, you might experience some lag while moving from one app to another, but that's a rare case.

Hardware:

2GB RAM, a decent processor and a good GPU, users might experience little problems during heavy usage. As newer technologies are being introduced everyday, devices really have to push up things a little, as a result some heating issues or low performance issues drop by. Not saying this phone has a poor hardware, but it's not the greatest out there. Heavy, stuffed up websites, big games and SNS apps will obviously require more from the hardware.

Another thing worth mentioning is the fast, accurate and perfectly placed Fingerprint Sensor. One of the fastest fingerprint readers out there in the market.

95% - Smooth, lag free experience

5% - Warming, Little Transitional Lags might occur( rarity)

Battery:

2700 mAh battery provides an acceptable on-screen time. Thanks to Doze feature of Android Marshmallow, you can expect great standby time. But with normal usage the battery lasts about 20-22 hours, though rapid charging is available.

Conclusion:

If you really want to upgrade from your Nexus 5, I will say its not the best deal out there, with 16GB and 32GB models available only, one would pick 32GB version since 16GB can never be spacy enough for any kind of user. This device hasn't failed to impress, but I couldn't really admit that this is a huge upgrade over the Nexus 5. But if you are looking to try out the Nexus devices for the first time and not willing to spend much, then this might suit and fit your pocket easily. There are dozens of great smartphones in this budget bracket, but since it's a Nexus, it will always be a great device to have.
