We bought this microwave in 2001, when this was supposed to be one of the "top end" models. The capacity is good enough for a family of 4.i rarely use the grill mode, but its not bad at all.

what this MW has:

1) its 800W

2)MW+grill and also combination cooking

3)few autocook menus

4)timer, cook by weight

5)kitchen timer for 15 minutes, which u can set even when u not using the MW

6) auto defrost by weight and food

7)grill rack/metal rack

things that I like about the microwave:

1) it stands the abuse! my mother in law almost bangs the microwave door every time she uses it. And it has undergone the banging for 8 yrs!I have only been using this one for last 2 yrs since marriage, without any problems.

2) the lcd display is sturdy.not even once we needed to service this instrument!

3) looks are elegant. It may not be as fancy as what we get today, but then this has been in india since donkey yrs! And it still is comparable to its competitors!

4)the functions are very self explanatory, prior to marriage, at my home we had an electrolux MW, and it needed me some practice to understand how to use its jog dial and various menus, but this one is so easy! not even once have I ever wanted to look around for its manual, infact I am sure we dont even have it anymore!

5)this MW has been used at an avg of 30 minutes, every day, since last 8 yrs with no hickups watsoever

Things I dislike:

1)slowly the microwave has become noise, since last 3-4 months, but then it still works without giving any problems.

2) the stainless steel body inside has now caught some rust say around 2 inches in one of the places.

3)LG has discontinued the model, and so no recipe book, or manual for this one is available online. Now they only have the latest ones on their site.they probably consider this as "obsolete"

4)this model is without convection, which means I cannot bake in it:(. but then convection MW werent even available in India so long back.Hence now I think its time to upgrade my MW combination to MW convection.

5)the customer service could be better.I called them, and asked if I could get the inside stainless steel fixed. And the agent said "Madam, this model is very old, sorry "

6)no good cookbook. But now LG provides cookbook with all its new models, is what I have heard

it has been very loyal to us for good 8 years, but now I find it slowly aging. Its making more noise than it used to.Also tiny rusty areas here and there. But still pretty much does everything with ease.I love this MW but sooner than later, I know I will have to replace it for something better, say a convection MW.

the sole purpose of me writing review on an obsolete model is that, it has possibly made it easier for me to decide upon the company I am going to rely upon once again for MW.It has to be either LG or samsung!

Also, my two cents, for those who wish to buy MWs.Go for a convection MW if money is not a factor.this would eliminate the need to buy an OTG or a toaster oven. Also having one gadget than two makes sense.

For those who wish to only reheat, in MW and once a while make some food. go for solo.with say 22-26 lt capacity

But if u are someone who love to cook, and bake as well, conv MW are ur best bet!

I make pulaos, sweets, chocolates, biryanis, jiffy curries, jams, popcorn, oats, omlette, and much more, on a regular basis in this one

I am giving away a recipe for my mouthshut friends:)

turmeric a pinch

coriander pwd 1/2 tsp
