THE LG MICROWAVE. Review on LG MC-804AAR

My mother didnt want to buy a microwave. She always thought she could manage just fine without one.But after a lot of discussions and debates, it was finally decided that we will GET ONE to become a part of the evolutionary, modern and ever changing world.

Every time we visited any of our friends in the neighbourhood, we would go into their kitchen just to take a peek at the microwave they had.Finally,one fine day,we found a brand, a color and a size that was to everyone's liking- The LG, MODEL-1296...bought a wide grin to everyone's face(except my mother who still thought it was a waste of money and a bad idea!).

THe LG Microwave has been selected as the 'Best buy in U.S.A. IT has double emission,speed and even cooking. IT defrosts food in no time. THe auto-weight control and the jet start method make it very easy and convenient to use.

The LG microwave had a four way cooking system:

MICROWAVE COOKING

This technique of cooking food is the simplest as it uses only the energy of microwaves. You can heat any kind of food after you have placed it in a microwave proof dish, which of course is non-metallic.And once you close the door of the microwave, the light bulb comes on, and u can see your food rotating away, getting warm.

CONVENTION COOKING

This is the method of cooking in which hot air from the convention heater situated at the rear warms your food.In this way the food gets brown all over without losing any of hte juices.Air heated by the heater gets circulated by a fan. And the food gets sufficiently warmed and cooked. You can adjust the time of cooking by using timer. I tried baking a chocolate cake by this way of cooking and boy it turned out so soft and fluffy.

GRILL COOKING

In this method of cooking the grill heater at the top comes on and because of the radiant heat, it turns red.This is the traditional way of cooking in which the food gets browned evenly all over. The temperature inside the oven is fixed at 180 C, which is the ideal grilling temperature for this oven. Try making some Shepherd Pie or grilling some waffles.

COMBINATION COOKING

This feature allows you to cook meat or poultry by weight on combination using 'microwave, grill and convention'I think that this is one of the best features of this microwave, allowing it to cook the meat until it is juicy and tender.

OTHER FEATURES:

This microwave is white in color with a glass door. The door is dark in color and you can see the food cooking when it is switched on.

THe rotating ring is dark-greyish and metallic. The advantage of it being metallic is that it will never break. We usually clean it once a week with hot soapy powder and then wipe it with a damp cloth.The interior is made of stainless steel and that is also dark colored and made of metal.

'JET START'

JET START is used to warm food briefly for sometime. It can go upto a time limit of 9 minutes.By one touch, micro power will start conveniently.

'STOP/CLEAR'

When Stop/Clear is touched once during the oven's operation, the oven will stop temporarily.

OPENING DOOR

Opening the door during cooking will stop cooking without clearing the programme. Cooking begins once again if the door is closed and START is touched. So what actually happens is that once we put the food I nthe microwave and shut the door. All you have to do is press the number of minutes like 1, 2 , or 6 or what ever and the food starts to get warm.And very soon the microwave will beep and that s all!!

Having a microwave in the house has made a lot of difference.Our lives have changed. I am glad we decided to get this brand. I somehow prefer this one over to the ones my friends have. Besides all the added comforts, I found the price reasonable too....which is approximately 20,000 Rs.

I dont have to warm the milk for my baby on the stove anymore! I just put the bottle directly in, and its done in no time. Besides it saves us from the mother of all chores,'washing utensils'!!

ANd my mother has finally relented and nods her head in approval at the wisdom of having bought an LG microwave.
