I bought a LG home theatre Model No HT 604, from Croma, It looked like a good buy at a reasonable price (Much cheaper than Sony or Samsung). I picked this product especially since it had an Audio Optical in port, since I had a Hard Disk player with an audio optical out. To my horror the Optical in refused to work. I gave my complaint to LG customer care the day after I had bought the product. who told me that the complaint will be attended to within 24 hours. No one turned up for a week. I gave my second complaint a week after my first complaint (ref No C1020515233) to the customer care who gave me the same assurances that my complaint will be attended to in 24 Hours.


Finally a person did turn up from the LG Authorised Service center (Advance Solutions, Patparganj) but the repairman had no idea what an "Optical in" socket was. It took me a good 30 mins to explain to him that the optical in was for hi definition audio input. He finally told me that he would talk to his supervisor.


After a long call with his supervisor he told me he will come the next day morning 10:30. I waited the whole next day for him and no one turned up. In the evening when I called I was told he would turn up the next day.


Which he did not.


I live In IP Extension, Patparganj Delhi which is hardly 5 minutes walk from the LG Authorized service center (Advance Solutions) in Patparganj Industrial Estate. I was furious, I called up the LG customer care and had them conference me with their senior executive. The "Senior Executive " conference me with the service center head who promised me they would come and repair my set the next day.


It has been two days now and not a word from either the LG customer care or the service center. Now I know why LG sells cheap products. They realise the value of their product and the only way they can peddle their substandard defective goods is by giving it away cheap to gullible customers like me. There is a saying in Hindi."Mehenga roye ek baar, Sasta roye baar baar". This is the last time I buy any LG products even if I have to pay a premium for other brands. At least I wont be saddled with defective products and a non responsive customer care


Update 1


Two days after I wrote the review above the repair guy finally came from LG. He said the piece was defective and will get it replaced. The next day he came and took copies of the bill and promised that the set will be replaced within 7 days.


Update 2


No news from LG even after 2 weeks. No replacement arrived or any other intimation from their side.


Called them again and found out that the LG home theatre I bought was out of stock in Delhi and I had two choices, either wait indefinitely or pay Rs. 2520 and get the higher model. I do not have the patience to deal with LG any longer. I agreed to pay the additional Rs 2520 and get the higher home theatre HT 924SF instead of my current HT 604. I just want to forget LG like its a bad dream.


Bad Company , Defective Products and even worse Customer Service.
