Brought this refrigerator in exchange of 290 Liters (25 Year Old) Godrej fridge on 3-3-2002. The Godrej was excellent fridge and worked very well for 25 years without having to call serviceman at any time. It was in very good condition when exchanged and I wanted to buy another Godrej but unfortunately there was no Godrej available (Frost Free) between 250 and 410 L size at that time. Also I was told that Godrej Quality has deteriorated over the years.
Looking at various models of Korean fridges from 100 L to 600 L in various sizes was quite an experience in the showrooms of various dealers. All of them looked very nice and attractive and I chose LG 312GV model of 312 L. Actually freezer section was much bigger than I wanted, I would have preferred smaller deep freezer & larger other section, but suh ombination was/is not available. Also I had a feeling that this 312L fridge is not as spacious as earlier 290 L Godrej. Now, after 4 years I read in news paper that 312 L includes the space of machine and coils as well. <This is pure cheating from Korean Mfrs.> The fridge worked well for 1.1/2 year after that the gas leaked (17-10-03). I had to spend about Rs. 2000=00 for timer, relay, gas and service contract. On 24-11-04 one plastic shelf cracked in two pieces. After 3 months other tray cracked into two pieces. Both trays I replaced by wire shelves from outside as I lost faith in LG's ability to design and manufacture proper goods. On 13-4-06 again the gas leaked, I had to spend Rs.2300/- for gas, service charge, timer & relay.
My Samsung Monitor & CD Rom Drive has also given me sufficient trouble, even my chinese keyboard (intex) is giving me trouble as I type this letter now.
I think the Indian customers should show way out to these Korean & Chinese Manufaturers who put sub-standard goods in Indian market. The goods are only beautiful to look at but lack good quality & robustness.
My experience with LG is repeated by some of my friends who have purchased LG fridges & Washin Machines.
