I'm not much into cellphones with cameras, so I wanted one with all the high-end features, minus the camera. Voila! I found this neat lil handset.

But LG? Hmm, I'd often thought Mobile = Nokia.

So I looked for similar ones from Nokia or at least SE & found there are NO rivals for this phone from the giants.

What sets this apart? It’s the MP3 & a classy 262K color display.

Weighing just about 78 grams, the BAR design looks awesome.

It has 64MB of memory, which is quite enough if you know how to compress MP3s to lower bitrates. (I managed to save upto 32 Kannada MP3 tracks)

The keys are elegant-looking and easy to work with - although plastic.

The navi-button is well made, and the twinkling network indicator in the center was a nice idea (this can be shut off if it gets annoying)

While Nokia charge an unfair price for a USB cable (around $49), LG gives it away for free. Managing your files is a lot easier using a PC.

The major drawback is it doesn't support Java.

The T9 dictionary can't be shut off permanently, you need to do it everytime you open the text editor - which is rather irritating to someone, like me, who types Kannada most of the time.

And you will encounter some small bugs as you move along but not severe ones as in Nokia. Duh!

Overall, I'm impressed LG could manage to pull this off. With such functionality for a 5.5K phone, who cares about the cons!
