For anyone looking at buying a LCD TV, here is a write up on LG 26LU11UR that LG has come out with. This is a wonderful model which has more features than any other model in its segment.
The Jazz atom series model comes with 2 HDMI inputs, but only 1 composite and component inputs. Hang on, the best part is that it also supports VGA input so one can easily hook up a laptop or desktop to get excellent quality picture quality.
One of the out-standing features of this TV is the support for USB 2.0. When I heard this, it sounded like this is just another option for connectivity but I was not sure what exactly is a USB option in a TV needed for. This is actually an option to hook any USB device that can be read like a Pen drive, portable harddisk, etc. The system explores the USB device for movie files, audio files and image files and plays them seamlessly!
Video - Mpeg 1, Mpeg 2, Mpeg 4, DivX 3/4, XVid.
Audio - MP3.
Image - JPG.
You can also browse the connected USB device to go to a specific folder. The UI is cozy enough and displays a preview of the selected file too.
Power saving features are in abundance and the system is smart enough to toggle between the power saving modes automatically depending on what is displayed on the screen.
It has a better viewing angle while LG claiming a new technology in IPS for some smooth moving images. I have Tatasky and the picture quality is just stunning.
Sound output is awesome with higher volumes delivering excellent sound without any distortion.
The one composite option can easily be overcome with a AV splitter, if needed. But if you think of 2 HDMI, a VGA and a component, it should give lot of ideas for different combination of connectivities.
In VGA mode, it supports three resolutions, 1024 X 768, 1280X768 and 1380 X 768. I have tried the first two and its a winner with sharp picture output!
All in all, a wonderful buy with a price that is a stealer. I bought this piece for 23K which might be comparable to a different brand in its segment, at a glance. We can get a Media reader that bridges between a TV and a USB device for around 2, 300(one from Amkette). So considering that this is already inbuilt in this TV, we can easily cut this from the 23K to end up with a very good value for money TV.
eZone price tags this same model at 26500(way too expensive than actual price), so do your survey for the lowest price offering dealer before buying.
Forgot to mention that this TV is HD ready and supports 1080p.
Go to a showroom and have a look at this and you will appreciate the features better especially if it is playing a Blue ray video.
Hope this review helps.
Regards.
