L. D. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING is the oldest institute for engineering studies in Gujarat. It is the most reputed in Gujarat as well as in India. It has been more than 52 years and the institute has produced so many engineers, who have reached the acmes of their professional career in India and abroad and have made the institute proud.
This college was build by the generous donation money and land in the education garden of Ahmedabad city, the university campus. And so the college is named after him. He was the founder of the institute.
This college offers variety of courses; the major courses are Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Master of Engineering (B.E.) and Master of Computer Application (M.C.A.).
The admission in B.E. requires high score in 12th standard and the admission in M.E. is based on GATE score. The B.E. course is 4 year long and divided in 1 year and 6 semesters, the exams are taken under Gujarat University. The M.E. course is of 2 years divided in 4 semesters.

The college offer two exciting subjects for specialization i.e. M.E. that I know that I know are CRYOGENICS and CAD/CAM.
L.D.C.E. is having very nice infrastructure. The architecture of the college is excellent and exemplary.
The college is the richest in laboratories among all the colleges in the Gujarat. Heat and Power, Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, IC engine, Material science, Metrology and Instrumentation, Work shop and so many laboratories are equipped with variety of Instruments and Machines worth crores of rupees. The Boiler Room contains three gigantic boilers. Above laboratories are to name a few of my department but all the departments are having equally rich laboratories. The institute is having Cryogenics Laboratory, which is the only cryogenics lab in Gujarat.
We are having very fine canteen facilities. The food is fine and available at reasonable cost. The college is having nice hostel facilities. It is having 6 blocks each having 3 floors and 10 rooms at each floor. The college is not having hostel facilities for girls but private rooms and hostels are nearby.
The professors and lecturers are highly qualified. They are so kind and ready to help any time and available to solve any difficulty any time.
We have very nice placement facilities. Big National and International companies starts interviewing from the starting of the 7th semester. The number of companies interviews throughout the year and almost all the brilliants get selected. The college has highest placement and highest number of students goes to U.S. for Masters degree every year.
Fees are also a nice factor that will add to the credit. The fees are incredibly low. We are studying engineering for fees just Rs. 300 per semester. It’s affordable by anyone and college doesn’t force unnecessary expenses.
I have written so much in favor of my college. I think, I should honestly describe the other side of the coin. Nothing is perfect so my college. Some of the bad things about it; It is too big that it is hard to keep it clean so it is untidy. It is a Government college so it is having all the cons a Government department should have. The teachers are good but students don’t let them complete the syllabus and term ends before the date. Some of the stars of the politics rise from our college. But these things never affect a normal student.
So, if you have high ambitions, you want to study engineering but you don’t like to be tied and forced then the right place for you is L. D. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING. It’s the only college which gives freedom with its courses free… free… free…
