Another one of Ekta's ventures, another one of my reviews. You may be tempted to think that I REALLY hate this woman. Well, the fact of the matter is - I DO!! I hate Ekta more than I hate our education system and more than I hate running on the streets with only a towel on my - ahem - PERSON!! (Dirty Minds - Keep out!)
This is the serial that started it all, 3 years ago.I still can't believe it is three years since the insanity started and spread to every house in the country. So much so, that most of the houses are now deciding to spend those 7000 bucks to keep Ekta Kapoor going after the introduction of CAS (Conditional Access System) in July. Doesn't 7000 bucks mean anything to you guys?
The story of the story...
People were initially sceptical of the title - no title had ever begun midway before. Every title, until now, signified the idea of the story, the basic screenplay on which the serial rested.
That gave them reason enough, to watch the serial and that gave Smriti Malhotra a new surname - on and off screen. On screen she was Tulsi Veerani, the all powerful bahu of the Virani Khandaan and off screen, she became Smriti Malhotra IRANI, the all powerful leader of Ekta's 'Bahu Brigade' (awaiting official status).
Mama's boy Amar Upadhayay, better known as ''Mihir'' was literally raised from the dead by public demand and so did the air in his head. He signed up for a film under an obscure banner after refusing Ekta and miserably flopped as a silver screen hero. Now we have a new Mihir who replaced another Mihir who replaced the Original Mihir i.e. Amarjee.
The serial, in an attempt to do something different, has now fast-forwarded 20 years into the next generation. The sons and daughters of the family have now grown up into sturdy young boys and homely young girls, half of them married by now and half of them awaiting their turn. Yet, the clout of Tulsi remains and funnily the eldest member of the household 'Baa' is still alive and she now combined with the others in the house totals 4 generations with the fifth well on its way!! Man, talk about longevity in the future!!
Personally I don't give a damn to why Ektaa Kapoor looks forward to breaking families like inexpensive flower-pots. Freud would probably have pointed out some growing up process to be responsible for the entire thing and blamed it upon her Dad (Jumpin' Jack) and Mom (Laid Beanstalk) for not raising her securely.
However, I do think she was raised securely enough as secure as a cell in Agra where you-know-who goes to get you-know-what. Oh I am sorry!! I now realise that it is highly unbecoming of me to behave like her and peep into her personal life. Pardon me, Madame Ektaa. Also, do pray that we, at P.H.E.K.O (People who HATE Ektaa Kapoor Organisation), a small non-profit organisation, do the same in your case, too!
