The drummers are having a ball these days. Ekta Kapoor is on a hiring spree for them since in every Hindi serial that is aired on Star Plus these days, every 2 minutes you have a character (female primarily) that is shocked to bits by this other character (female) who has been conspiring against her. All you see in these serials is the zoomed face of this shocked lady from 36 different angles and then you hear these loud drums banging in the background (replacing the old lightening sounds that were so need of the moment in the Hindi movies of yesteryears).
I don?t have words to even begin to describe the stupidity level of these serials. Somehow they seem to assume that the person watching them would be a total idiot and to have no sense of proportion at all. I can?t even begin to fathom the crap that Ekta Kapoor and co. has filled in their ?creative? minds.
Means look at what the story line of the serials like Kum Kum(though its not an Ekta Kappor serial, but has been made in exactly the same way), Kahin to Hoga and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. Their storylines are like underwear whose elastic has been stretched to accommodate a man with a waist twice or thrice the size of what it was meant for. In every damn star plus serial you have this sati savitri nari who is being conspired against by a vamp who wants to take over her husband and khandan.
When they run out of ideas then they put in this duplicate of the lead which manages to sabotage her identity. To top that no one concerned ever comes to know. Then their husbands talk in thousands of crores as if it were thousands of rupees they are talking of.
I remember I read in TOI a few months ago that a girl had filed suite against STAR PLUS for maligning the image of women in general by showing such serials. I think that girl should be commended for that and Ekta Kapoor be exiled from the country for creating such crap.
Even my wife now hates these serials for what they have turned into. Somebody needs to go and tell these people that beating drums, zooming in from 36 different angles, throwing in unimaginable storylines defying all logic won?t make good serials. Have they forgotten the simplicity of Hum Log, Buniyad, Tamas and Banegi Apni Baat. These serials were good because they were simple in visualization and strong in story.
