After (what seems like) aeons, comes a movie, which despite the stereotypical Bollywood formula exudes a charm of its own... Rohan Sippy, the debutant director of Kuch Naa Kaho, knew what he wanted & has painted his canvas with dexterity, which falls into a class of its own... It's a love story alright, yet a story which makes you sit & notice that there's more to it... There wasn't a moment when you felt the story lost grip; and the narrative never goes overboard...

What makes Kuch Naa Kaho, a sugar-coated tale of an NRI & a married woman with a kid, special is that none of the twists-in-the-tale are held back for long, and just as you would start wondering where the story is headed, the sub-plot unfolds & the story moves on a different realm... That is not to say, that the director meanders from the plot, in fact his treatment makes the movie a roller coaster ride & before you say what next, the director has already created the next sub-plot for you to savour...

The characters etched seem out of real life, if we could pardon our filmy cliches... Abhishek Bachchan earns all the accolades... He is a natural actor, who delivers a suave & accomplished performance... His transition from a bratty NRI, who is scared of marriage, to a mature lover, who is ready to accept a married women as his life partner, to a surrogate father, who can play a Super Dad with panache, indeed speaks volume of his versatility... He is equally at ease in performing comic scenes, love-dovey numbers or an emotional pouring... He is surely the lambi-race-ka-ghoda, an actor to watch out for...

Aishwarya defies words when it comes to beauty... Even in the acting department, KNK gives her the centre-stage & she excels... She plays a modern woman moving her own life, but at heart she is the traditional Indian to whom marriage is more than a word... She breathes life into her character by bringing out the angst of a single mother, a career woman, an ex-wife & a lover... Her outburst towards the climax, though typically bollywood, does deserve a mention...

The kid & the supporting cast, all blend well in the story with fine acts, giving it the rich Indian family look... Sippy Jr. probably didn't want to take any chances with his first movie & so we have the parivaar & shaadi backdrop... And what's wrong with going by what the box office dictates, if your film has a soul of it own??? The humour is not crappy, the romance is subtle... The camaraderie between Abhishek & the kid keeps you smiling throughout...

The music too is catchy, contemporary & vibrant... The nok-jhonk song is one of the better songs, pacy & on-screen it is a treat to watch, thanks to the lead pair... Their chemistry is electric, to say the least... Achi Lagti Ho is an upbeat song in signature Shankar-Ehsaan-LOy style, and grows on you because of its mint-fresh beats... KNK shines in the technical departments as well, the cinematography is feel-good, the sets complement the look of the film...

Overall, it is a story well told, thanks to the deft direction & power-packed performances...
