Watching any film, and I mean any film, at Gaiety-Galaxy (Bandra, Mumbai) is a fulfilling experience. It's a typical hindi movie cinema hall (notice the absence of the word 'multiplex'?), where tickets are never available at the counter and you need to 'know someone' who takes you into a dark alley, sells you tickets at a 'black' rate in absolute secrecy and disappears into thin air by the time you count your change. Once you get into the hall, you see a real curtain over the screen, which gently rolls up when the film is about to begin, and oh! behind it you see something really rare these days...a full-size cinema hall screen! Once the film begins, you're transported straight into it. When Salman makes his entry, people in the stall literally jump with joy. When Shah Rukh mouths a love song, they sing along. And when Akshay cracks a joke, they laugh till they fall off their seats.

So when a bunch of us decided to watch Krrish, it just HAD to be a Gaiety! And as usual, it was one helluvan experience!!

The film opens in a picturesque village in Uttaranchal, where Rohit Verma's son Krishna lives with his grandmother, hidden away from the rest of the world. He's gifted, like his father, but uses his skills to do monkey-like antics and spook his kiddie friends and tourists who visit the area. How he turns into a 'superhero who must save the world' is what the film is all about.

The music is a letdown, and the first half, although with its moments, is somewhat of a drag. The second half is equally exciting, and takes Hindi cinema to a high point where it never ventured earlier.

True! It doesn't have the excitement of 'Koi Mil Gaya'. But maybe that's because it doesn't try to answer questions that have been on everyone's minds for centuries, like the prequel did. But Krrish brings forth a superhero the likes of which Hindi cinema has never had before.

The action in the film is unbeatable. The special effects are outstanding. The plot exceeded my expectations. Of the actors, Nasseruddin Shah is outstanding, and refreshing to watch in a negative role. Priyanka Chopra is earnest and Rekha as the sweet old loving grandmother is totally believable.

But the film belongs to Hrithik Roshan all the way. Be it in the role of Rohit Verma, Krishna Verma or Krrish, he takes you on this rollercoaster ride that leaves you totally exhausted in the end and still asking for more, and keeps the front seaters at Gaiety Galaxy applauding with excitement all the way!

Don't miss it for the world!
