The Roshans have done it. They have given us India’s first true superhero film. And what a film it has turned out to be for Indian standards! If one feels that the special effects and action sequences are similar to the Matrix or Spiderman movies then we ought to realize what we’re comparing an Indian film with.

Yes the movie does have flaws in the first half. But the overall package is quite jaw dropping and there are various aspects of the movie that will lead to that reaction.

The film starts with the shadowed upbringing of Krishna, the son of the gifted Rohit Verma. Grandmom Rekha knows about Krishna’s powers and doesn’t want to lose her grandson to the miserable world which would exploit his powers. Herein comes the ultra boring Priyanka Chopra who’s on a fashionable adventure camp. A bit of bhoot scare(Krishna pretending to be one) and a soft corner for Priyanka is what the entire first half drags along with till she leaves for Singapore and Krishna realizes his love for her. He flies down to Singapore after taking due permission from grandmom.

The second half is where the fun begins. Krishna faces situations where he is forced to use his powers but to conceal his true identity, uses the mask and costume to finally become the Superhero KRRISH. The plot leads us to Doctor Arya (Naseerudin Shah) who plays the sadistic scientist who has developed a technology that can change the world. Only one man can stop him. And that’s no ordinary man. He leaps over cars on Singapore streets, runs like the wind, beats the hell out of a biker gang, saves lives and chases Dr. Arya to his island in the most stunning sequences witnessed in Indian cinema.

The final encounter between the notorious Arya and Krrish is typical action comic book drama and kids in the cinema hall will be cheering for Krrish by now.

What impresses even more than the stunning action sequences is the story that unravels in the second half. The way Rakesh Roshan manages to link Koi Mil Gayaand its sequel in a harmonious manner so as not to leave any stone unturned and to solve all the logic, fit all pieces of the puzzle and make sense out of the entire superhero saga.

The international team for the action and special effects has really made the movie world class. Out of perhaps 20 action/stunt sequences, one will barely manage to notice 4 scenes that have some over-the-top effects. Rest of it is all done by Hrithik himself and talking about Hrithik Roshan………..

KRRISHis Hrithik Roshan all the way. This actor has come a long way in this industry. He not only has had the best roles but this time, he’s put in his best in every aspect of his role. From his looks, to action, to stunts, to dances and to portraying all the various emotions with ease and brilliance. Without a doubt, there is nobody who could play the role of this superhero any better. His personality and body language and facial expressions just speak of the intensity that goes into a superhero’s character.

Hrithik’s performance is flawless while Priyanka Chopra and her saas bahuserial actress friend are a real bore. They cannot act. Priyanka fails to emote appropriately and cannot dance at all. That too when paired with the dance maestro. Neither does she look so pretty nor can she act that well. A total miscast in this otherwise brilliant movie. Sharad Saxena and Rekha have significant roles and they are great whereas Naseeruddin Shah……. Well how much can one praise this epitome of versality? Simply brilliant.

The music of the film is refreshing and Hrithik just makes it all better with his stunning dances. This man is truly made of rubber. Come to think of it in real terms, with the stunts that he has performed, there wouldn’t be any doubt about that!

Overall, KRRISH is very slick. Very much unlike what we’ve seen in Bollywood in its technical brilliance, stunts, action, special effects and superhero mayhem.

Rakesh Roshan’s direction is impeccable except for the lethargic first half but he easily makes up for it in the second half with the great story that puts everything in place.

Like every other superhero movie, the first installment does take time to introduce the story and the character and so does this one and therefore its length but surely, Rakesh Roshan will plan sequels to this movie and bollywood will have the cool stunning Hrithik doing more acrobatic stunts and beating up more bad guys and leaping and running over everything that comes in the way of our new superhero- KRRISH.
