Saw Krrish last night. One sec, I wanna give a standing ovation for Mr. Rakesh Roshan for his effort. Take a bow Mr. Roshan, take a bow. Krrish starts off in a scenic town covered by greenery and mountains and rivers, typical fairy tale land.... Krishna a first standard kid living with his grandmom(Rekha) is found to have an IQ way above average for someone his age and his school want to do an IQ test on him to see how brilliant he is. Rekha witnesses her grandson conquering all questions thrown at him by the teachers with brilliant confidence. Then suddenly, she rushes in picks up her grandson and takes him home even before the IQ test is completed. At this point you wonder whether Rekha has gone senile or what??!! In the next scene she is shown explaining to the headmaster of the school that she does not want Krishna's abilities to be exposed to the world as the world is a bad place which took away her son (Rohit) and her Bahu (Preity Zinta). She tells him that she will take away Krishna to a land where he will be safe from the outside world. Then Rekha sets up her home high in the hills and begins her new life with Krishna. Krishna makes friends with the kids there but soon loses them 'cos nobody wants to play with him as he is different from all of them. So our Krishna befriends animals, birds, the hills, the river and the mountains and grows up amidst them... When Krishna grows up he finds out that all the guys of his age are going away to cities either for studies or to find some work... Krishna gets lonely but he consoles himself by thinking that his dadi is her world and he is meant to be with her...One day while playing with some kids he sees a glider sweeping down from the sky and thinking its a kite runs to catch it. He runs through the river, jumps over trees and climbs over hlls as the glider makes its way through the forest. Finally he catches up with it when it gets stuck in a tree branch and sees a person tearing apart from it and falling to the ground. He jumps and grabs to save the person and is gliding down to the ground when he gets a glimpse of the person and voila (no prizes for guessing)its a beautiful girl (Priya from Singapore who has come down to India for a vacation.She realizes that they are falling to the ground and screams...and our krishna grabs on to a branch and they hang in mid air....he asks her not to shout as she is safe and lets go of the branch but she screams again...finally she falls down to the ground unconcsious. Krishna hides himself behind a tree when he hears footsteps. Priya is found and taken away by her Adventure-Camp buddies. When she regains consciousness and tells her friends that she was rescued by a guy, nobody believes her .... A local chap who is their guide and who is Krishna's friend tells them that it must have been the famous ghost Kalicharan who must've saved her. Then starts a comic sequence where Hrithik scares the guts out of the campers by appearing and disappearing many times. When he saves Priya in an astonshing way when she's rock climbing, the campers finally agree that he is a ghost and decide to leave the place. Finally, Krishna comes and apologizes to all of them and spends the rest of their days with them showing them some amazing stunts which truly amazes the visitors....Then comes the time when Priya and her friends have to leave for home and our hero becomes lonely again. When Priya and her friend Honey (who is one of the worst actors in the movie) return to Singapore their boss (apparently they work in Star TV) tels them that she is firing them as they are five days late. To escape the wrath of their boss(played by Archana Puran Singh) Honey tells her they were working in India and have found an Indian Super Boy who can perform some unbelievable feats and that it would be a major bosst to the TRP of their channel if they could presnt a feature on him. Their boss agrees not to fire them if they can bring the Super Boy to Singapore and prove their story. Priya calls up Krishna and pretends to be in love with him and tells him that her mom wants to meet him and asks him to come to Singapore. When he tells Rekha about it she forbids him from going there. When he asks why she tells him the tragic story of his dad. Apparently his dad was called abroad by a major IT company, Technotronics headed by Siddhanth Arya (palyed by Naseeruddin Shah) to make a super computer that would be able to see the future. It takes Rohith two yearsa and the day Krishna was to be born Rekha receives a call from Rohith saying that he would be coming back to India soon and tells her that his talent and brains were being used for a wrong reason. Unfortunately, Rohith never returns and upon hearing the news of his death Preity Zinta also passes away.... Krishna (and the audience!!!) now understands why his dadi is so reluctant to send him anywhere. Rekha later agrees to send him for a few days so that Krishna can come back with the love of his life but with the condition that he promises not to let people find out about his powers.... So, our super hero (finally) lands in Singapore. Then begin Priya's attempts to capture Krishna's skills on camera without his knowledge....but each time she fails....Krishna wants to meet her mom to ask Priya's hand in marriage but Priya tells him that her mom has gone to Hongkong....One day while witnessing a show at the Great Bombay Circus with Priya, the circus tent catches fire and Krishna ends up saving a few trapped kids although he does it with a mask on his face. When he is trying to save a kid, the kid asks who he is and he utters Krrish before realizing that it would reveal his identity and tells her he's a friend. Then begins a search for the masked-hero in Singapore with the television channels announicing rewards for Krishh's bravery. Meanwhile Priya finds out that Krrish is none other than Krishna through an accidental recording on her nady-cam which shows Krishna wearing the mask at the circus....She tells Honey about it and they decide to telecast the footage on TV to save their job. Krishna finds out about it and realizes that Priya doesn't love him and was just using him to save her job. He is saddened by the truth and decides to head back home....When he is at the airport, Priya comes to him with an old friend of Rohith who tells him about his dad and the way Siddhanth Arya had cheated Rohith and also tells him that.............well, I won't give out the suspense.....GO WATCH as our super-hero takes on the evil Siddhanth Arya for a good cause. Mr. Rakesh Roshan ushers Hindi cinema into the super-hero genre with finesse and crisp direction. He shows us that the desi animation industry ( I heard that the major SFX were done in Bangalore and Chennai, although SFX experts were hired from US) has a lot of potential and we can expect many more SFX movies to hit the Indian Screens......Three Cheers to the Roshan camp for having the guts to venture into this unexplored genre in hindi film industry.... I am waiting for a sequel....Accolades for Hrithik 'cos he took 45 days training in Martial arts for the movie and the results show....
For the sake of better hindi movies, go watch Krishh and appreciate the effort without comparisons to Hollywood flicks as SFX is very expensive stuff and Hollywood is damn rich!!!!
