Can Krrish be called India’s answer to the likes of Superman, Spiderman and Batman? Is Hrithik Roshan, who made women sigh and weak in their knees in his debut film, a superhero material? Have Indian audiences matured to accept desi-super hero flicks over mushy eye candy romances?

The answers to all the above questions and more are a resounding ‘YES’. As cine-buffs and cine-makers, we Indians have blossomed into fine buds, who are now willing to experiment the unexplored, and dish out quality entertainment into our lives. Obviously, the growing modernization and Hollywood too, have been a major influence in governing the kind of cinema we have today.

Krrish is the sequel to the ET-inspired Koi Mil Gaya. It is all about one man’s journey from being a lonely tree-jumping nomad amidst the peaceful environs of nature to a suave looking, masked hero displaying dare-devilish histrionics in the by-lanes of Singapore. The film is definitely worth talking, writing, raving, and going goo-ga over Mr. Long Locks Hrithik Roshan. A highly under-rated actor, all it requires for the aquiline-nosed Roshan Jr. is a script and a director to extract a performance très excellance. Krrish does just that! And Papa Roshan deserves full marks for experimenting with the unusual, and giving his beta some of the finest hits of his career (Kaho Naa Pyar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya).

Perhaps the only glaring flaw here is its lengthy and wasted romance between the protagonist and his love interest. The former Miss World fails to justify her presence in the goings-on, and is a poor portrayal of the character she plays in this film. The failing music, and unnecessary screen time devoted to the shenanigans of Priyanka Chopra, stretches the film to three long hours. This somehow dilutes the film’s main plot, and hampers the flow of an otherwise good film. But giving where credit is due, the first few scenes till the time Krrish grows up, and then the post interval portions where he is transformed into a superhero makes it an interesting cinema.

Check out the mask and the long-flowing coat that Krrish wears. It’s the best so far – sophisticated and suave – to be worn by any superhero thus far. Another feather is the superb stunts, and beautiful cinematography. Just for this, and a novel attempt by Rakesh Roshan to end the film with an attempt to give us yet another sequel to Krrish, go watch it!
