The Superhero trend which has its origins in Hollywood since the 1940's, since the advent of Superman/Batman/Spiderman has been a fascination for Bollywood film-makers for quite long. And ofcourse, India has had its own version of superhero films, largely inspired by Indian culture .However, we have to admit that when it comes to modern or latest films, India has been quite talented enough in learning the tacts of the west and reproducing atleast as good or similar films(in a positive manner)

Coming to the point, Krrish 3, the latest edition of the Koi Mil Gaya series, is an action packed thriller, focusing on the main protagonist Krrish or Krishna, played by none other than India's greek God, Hrithik Roshan.

Plot:-

Several years after Rohit(Hrithik Roshan)returns to his home, Krishna(Hrithik Roshan) and Priya(Priyanka Chopra) are living happily together and are even expecting a child.Meanwhile, Rohit, being a scientist, is attempting to create a new technology based on light, which in the perfect combination, would be able to create life as well as resurrect a dead person.Initially, he fails in his experiment but does not give up. Later, Krishna gets fired from his job as a security person in a jewellery store, since he and his colleague, Kripal Sharma(Rajpal Yadav) supposedly ran away during a robbery of the store. The real reason was that Krishna, became'Krrish' in order to beat up the thieves and save the store, something which nobody knew. He saved an aircraft initially in the same manner.

Krrish does a magnificient job of saving lives whenever and wherever he can, but unfortunately gets fired from job to job, for the same reason. Now comes the real challenge. A secret megalomaniac inventor named Kaal(Vivek Oberoi), who is handicapped, but has a unique ability to move things through telekinesis(mind control) is planning to take over the world, by creating a deadly virus which initially claims hundreds of lives in Namibia. To aid him in his plans, he created several mutants known as Maanvars(a cross breed of humans or maanav and animals or jaanwar), each having superhuman capabilities. Kaya(Kangana Ranaut), is one among his best mutants who can morph into any form, since she was created by fusing human and chameleon serum. She initially manages to kill scientists developing antidotes to the deadly virus.

After causing immense death and destruction in Namibia, he now focuses on India to satisfy his evil desires. They manage to plant the virus killing hundreds, before Rohit and Krishna realize that the virus did not affect them and create an antidote to the virus from Krishna's blood, saving the city and the country. Kaal also uses his other mutants to wreak havoc on the city and in the process, Krrish manages to battle them along the way and captures one of them to unveil the secrets.Meanwhile, Priya who was pregnant gets injured in the attack and gets kidnapped by Kaal, while Kaya morphs into her form.In the process, Kaya falls in love with Krishna and when Krishna discovers that she is not Priya, they decide to strike back at Kaal.

During the process, Kaal remembers that his quest for learning about his condition remained unanswered throughout his life and in this process, through the use of telekinesis, he kills his father, played by Mohnish Bahl. Later, Rohit discovers that Kaal was born out of an experiment done by Dr Arya from Rohit's own blood and he was adopted by a very rich man, who he assumed to be his own father.

The last half an hour of the movie would decide whether Krrish would be successful in destroying Kaal, or whether Kaal would be triumphant in his endeavours, possibly leading to a sequel of this movie(as a viewer, we can expect the obvious conclusion and hence it may not be necessary to divulge further info on this)

Direction/Performances:-

The USP of this movie would be the director's moves, ultimately leading to great performances.

Rakesh Roshan has done a fantastic job this time, even better than Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish, in morphing all aspects, be it plot/script, performances, locations, costumes, songs, graphics/technology into one single film.

Coming to the performances, the sole hero would be the movie's superhero, Hrithik Roshan. It seems Hrithik had to undergo several hours of physical training and rehearsals to prepare himself for the role. As in the case of it's prequel Krrish(2006), Hrithik got into the skin of the character with ease and most of his scenes, especially the action sequences displayed his skill. Even his portrayal of the aged Rohit, with grey hair and wrinkled face did manage to suit his character.

Priyanka Chopra's role was no great shakes and was not significant enough to be noticeable.

Kangana Ranaut, played a morphing mutant Kaya convincingly enough and her change of heart from the mission oriented Kaya to someone having a humane side was good.

After Hrithik, Vivek Oberoi played the evil Kaal with great ease. This is his second film with an all-out negative role after Shootout At Lokhandwala(2007) where he played the dreaded gangster Maya Dolas. His performance towards the end was indeed terrific.

Other characters such as that of Rajpal Yadav, playing Krishna's friend, Rakhee Tandon playing Rajpal's wife, Arif Zakaria playing the doctor/research scientist, Asif Basra playing the doctor, Sachin Khadekar playing the politician, Mohnish Bahl as Kaal's adoptive father in the tiny cameo appearance, Naseeruddin Shah as Dr Arya, in the equally tiny cameo appearance in a flashback sequence, were good enough.

Music:-

Krrish 3 has 5 main tracks. The songs, Raghupati Raghav, Dil tu hi Bataa, God Allah aur Bhagwan, appeared repeatedly in the song promos, much before the film's release. Rajesh Roshan composed the music while Salim-Sulaiman gave the background score. Alisha Chinai, Zubeen Garg, Neeraj Shridhar, Monali Thakur and Mamta Sharma were some of the singers who lent their voices for the songs.

Others:-

The defining feature of the film would be the graphics and animation. As opposed to most other Bollywood movies having graphics/animation sequences designed or developed abroad, Krrish 3's animation was mainly done in India.

The film was shot in Mumbai and some sequences, especially Kaal's laboratory was shot in the Alps, Switzerland

Krrish 3 is one of the biggest hits of recent times and crossed more than Rs 300 crore in all its openings, India and worldwide. It received several positive claims from its critics and fans alike.
