The most callous unfriendly careless bank

I had deposited Rs. 50, 000 for 290 days with Kotak Bank, Gurgaon Branch under the Customer ID with the Term Deposit number . The amount matured on 31 July 2007, but till date, I have neither received the maturity amount nor I have received any communication from the bank.


Despite more than 2 months of intense following up with the phone banking and branch officials (Neha – branch head, Gaurav – The person responsible for FDs, Suresh – My "supposed" Relationship Manager and numerous other people whose names I can't even remember).


I have not received any satisfactory update. Worse still, all the above mentioned people would provide me deadlines by when they would call, but I never receive any calls and I have to start the process all over again.


Given that mine is a Pro Savings account, one of the most important features of which as per your own employees and Website is a "Dedicated relationship manager", I find it shocking that nobody got in touch with me for one whole year with my money lying with you.


I find it even more shocking that my "dedicated relationship manager", Rashid had resigned from Kotak a long while back and nobody was assigned my account before I raised an alarm related to this FD. So, for an year nobody bothered to intimate the fact to me that my money is just lying with you. In such a situation it won't be unjustified to say that Kotak has not delivered the service it promised.


Now it has been more than a year since the maturity date, which means that clearly my money has been with the bank for more than 2 years instead of the stated 290 days. I would request you please look into the matter and ensure the safety of return on my money for whole of the period including the time period for which the bank was not authorized to keep my money. I had requested the same from Neha but no steps were taken from her side, hence, the escalation.


I would also like to bring to your notice that because of this callous attitude of Kotak Bank officials, I had to take an additional loan of Rs 50, 000 from my friends to meets some urgent financial emergency. This whole episode of the past two months has been extremely frustrating for me and has caused me a lot of mental stress. The callous attitude of your staff had driven me to the extreme.


As it has already been well above 1 year since the maturity date, not getting a satisfactory reply/action will leave me with no other option but to take my complaint to the next level.
