kodak easyshare z 8612 IS
I am writing this review exactly after 9 moths from the purchase.
I hope this would be a full term and healthy review
When I decided to buy a camera, I had certain requirements which are
1) I should be able to shoot the objects from a distance. This has 12 x zoom
2) image should be above 5 mp. This has 8.1 mp
3) should have image stabilizer
4) should give me the freedom to experiment with lighting, exposure, shutter speed and aperture etc. This has PASM MODE along with auto and smart scene mode ( 16 pre set like portrait, macro, night and more )
5) should be able to shoot videos as well
6) should have compatibility for lense adaptors and lenses.
7) one touch image transfer device
8) HD pictures
9) good rechargeable battery
10) compact and light weight
11) should be able to stitch pictures to make one panoramic frame. This stitches 3 pics
For best results, you must use a tripod.
After checking all the products I bought Kodak easyshare z8612 IS
The only 2 negative points are:
1) this dose not have a view finder
2) zoom function is not there for video mode

If your requirements are close to above mentioned features, you can go for it. In last 9 months there are other cameras as well which are worth checking out
These are from fuji ( 24 x zoom), nikon ( 15 x zoom) and a new model from kodak ( 24 x zoom) itself.
These cameras are pricesed on a higher side.
