I was very apprehensive at first on thought of buying a digital camera. Would it be good? Would I face any problems with the picture clarity? But after a lot of thinking, I decided to go in for it as the pros out weigh the cons by a large margin. After a lot of searching, I decided to go in for the Kodak DX3215 due to the following reasons:
1.3 Megapixel resolution (Decent enough)
Camera dock for recharging and pic transfer (optional) 3. 2X optical zoom and 2X Digital zoom
Came with 8MB memory and
32MB MMC free!! Now coming to the performance, the clarity of the pictures taken are very good except for the ones taken in bad light. These turn out dark. You have to use an image editor (like photoshop, photoimpact or just use the bundled kodak software) to increase the brightness and contrast. But the ones taken in good light, give good results.
A couple features sorely missed are 1. No timer - This is a big disappointment. This means someone has to manually take the snaps! 2. No Lens cover - I still dont understand how much Kodak would have saved by not including the cover! The batteries last for about 15-20 photos. Less if you use the LCD a lot. A good idea would be to buy some spare rechargeable batteries. This is what I have done. The memory (total 40MB) can hold 80 photos (1280x960) and upto 300 photos (640x480). Remember you will get a lot less if you use only the inbuilt memory (8MB). The PC connection was flawless, though the interface of the software is a bit confusing. You can set it up to transfer images with a push of a button (requires dock).
A must buy if you are about to enter the world of digital photography.
