My son and I purchased this camera for my husband for fathers day last year. He had been wanting a digital camera so that we could cut down on the price of film and developing. We had this bad habit of taking pictures and never getting the film developed. This is no longer a problem.
My son works for a computer store in Houston, so he did the legwork, and the comparisons. What he came up with was the Kodak DC215. He questioned his co-workers in the digital imaging department endlessly, until he had a really good understanding of the differences between cameras.
This camera is easy to use. You can preview any or all of the stored pictures, delete or keep them, and download them to your home PC. This camera combined with a laptop would be the perfect gift for someone going on vacation abroad.
The downside is that you can only store so many pictures before you have to download some. This camera does not have a floppy drive, so access to a computer is a must.
The pictures are great. The first digital camera we bought was a cheapy that cost around $99.00 USD. That was when digitals first came out and under a hundred dollars bought a very poor quality camera. We returned that one very quickly.
The Kodak DC215 cost $250.00 USD and that was with my son's employee discount. We have been very happy with it.
