As students, we were taught that to develop a plot, we need conflicts. We were told how Shakespeare wrote the great Othello which is simply based on a small error of loosing a hanky and subsequent misunderstanding etc. As student, it was interesting to know that. Well as a youth, now one is made to feel what an idiotic viewers are we all.
Take for example the great KKUSUM. We need to look at that only as a story or a serial. But whatever it be, should we have anything specially that is meant for people who are supposed to be able to think logically? One can understand the conflicts arising out of psychological reasons. But to think that all the bad things should happen exactly to the needs of the villains is something too much for digesting. It makes one wonder if this sort of thinking of the story writer and director that makes this great national mentality the way that it is today causing innumerable loss to the community ...psychologically and materially...allowing its population to be pawns in the hands of a few people....politicians or mafia or fundamentalists..
As a matter of fact, instead of conducting such a competition, it would have been a more innovative and useful exercise if MOUTHSHUT.com had decided to run a competition asking the people to list down the idiotic and illogical situations in any serial of their choice. Mouthshut will get many good sponsors to give good gifts for the best of the articles and if we are able to make a study of that, most probably, it might reveal a lot about the the thinking of the viewers.
Kindly do not think that this applies to Kkusum only. Ek Mahal hai sapnon ka also started as a nice serial but later fell into such depths that no director or anyone could revive any serious interest in that. This applies to most of the serials on all channels.
Please, a lot of money, effort, time etc is spent on all these activities. That being the case, cannot we be a little more discrete, analytical, logical etc when such a work is undertaken so that what comes out is something that is meaningful and useful for the society as a whole?????
