Ekta Kapoor has the whole nation under her thumb...her tele serials have taken India by storm, and if one has seen even a couple of these on any channel,it will be easy to see the kkommon points and similarities in all these. What started with Jeetendra(Ekta's father)has been adopted by Ekta too, namely the trend of naming their ventures with K. When it first started out,Kkusum seemed like an exception to the normal mix of rona-dhona,melodrama,vamps galore and twist within twist plots.

The story of a true middle class girl with sky high ambitions and gentle, caring, forgiving(the list of qualities goes on and on)nature was something that lots of girls could identify with. The story further tells the tale of how she gets married to her super rich boss Abhay and the mystery of his indifferent behaviour toward her is well kept. Those earlier episodes were pretty engrossing which made the serial watchable. Somewhere in between, the introduction of newer and not fewer characters thickened the plot and from then on it seemed like all the problems of the world fell on Kkusum's shoulders. From adultery by Abhay to a miscarriage to false allegations every now and then by the vicious chachi's Arundhati and Nikita,Kkusum has seen it all.

After lots of boring episodes, the introduction of Siddharth came like a breath of fresh air in the otherwise stale-by-now plot.Kkusum gets divorced from Abhay and reluctantly marries Sid,much against the wishes of Sid's mother and aunts(more vamps!!)Thus begins once again, the downfall of the plot as Kkusum tries to solve everyone's problems around her as if they are her own.Can it get more annoying? The mystery around ''Devanshi's''character is well built, never would it have occurred to any viewer that she's one more of the negative clan.A clever concept,no denial of that.

Currently the serial has lost its early interesting touch, and the viewers are compelled to watch the same old problems and twists combined with lots of melodrama. The stuff found in any(and all) of Ekta's serials. In fact the serial has become so predictable that even kids can foresay what will happen next. And some of the story sequences are so ridiculous that the once true to life Kkusum no longer seems a character some one can identify with. How else would one explain the non-stop misunderstandings between Sid and Kkusum regarding her renewed relationship with Abhay? Are we such gullible viewers? It surely seems of late that to continue watching this serial, the viewer must get rid of his sense of rationality and common sense.Surely not done.

Now about the performances,Nausheen in the title character is a good actress, emotes well and looks her part. The veteran Marathi actress Savita Parbhune as Kkusum's mother is reduced to lots of fainting and crying.Pity.Rohit Roy,who is now cast as Abhay is a very convincing actor, probably one of the most brilliant soap opera actors amongst all of the ''K'' serials.Siddharth(the goody goody husband)acts intensely, gives over intense looks sometimes but still handles his part well, doing justice to his character. The other actors and actresses are good at their job too,so no complaints in the acting department.

It is now left to see how long this saga of 'an extra ordinary story of an ordinary girl'(literally translated from the Hindi caption)can keep the viewers hooked. The way it is going right now, seems like the entangled plot will just get worse and the storyline more stale(n ridiculous and stupid). Were Ekta's astrologers n numerology experts wrong about the K factor this time??Wait and watch!
