A BIG NA TO KISNA. Review on Kisna

I'd been waiting for this film to hit the theatres, especially since I've been a fan of Subhash Ghai's films (Yaadein and Pardes notwithstanding!)and Vivek Oberoi. Besides, the title song and background score sound pretty good.

It's been 4 days now since I saw Kisna, but the bad memories still haunt, and I still cringe when I watch the trailers on TV. I think that a part of me which loves Bollywood so much has been destroyed ~ for life!

The film starts off well, with a Titanic-style flashback and all that jazz. The first half of the film is slow, but tolerably so. I remember thinking during the interval - ''Hmmmm....no opinion formed yet. The pace will pick up in the second half.''

SOB How wrong I was!! Post interval, Kisnadoes a spin on its axis and goes mindlessly haywire!

The story is set in a picturesque village in Uttaranchal. Like any other Subhash Ghai flick, there's nothing original about it. The pace is painfully slow, and the execution is as bad as it gets.

The acting could be considered excellent ~ if this was a school play. I'm serious! People are waiting for the opposite person to finish their lines so that they can say theirs and finish off the scene.

Of the cast, Vivek Oberoi tries really hard to appear believeable. Unfortunately, he fails miserably.

Isha Sharvani is there only for her acrobatics. Sorta reminds you of a circus acrobat who comes in, finishes her act and goes off, and her presence or absence would make no difference to the (nonde)script!

The British actress is sweet and earnest, but even she cannot save this film from it's inevitable failure.

Sushmita Sen (in a cameo) looks like she's been forced to look and behave like Madhuri Dixit. A complete disaster! (I hope they paid her for it! This kinda role could damage her glam queen image!)

Vivek Mushran and Hrishita Bhatt do a superb job of hamming their way through their two bits in the film. Totally forgettable.

All in all, Kisna is about as entertaining as a bad dream that you can't get out of! A definite na na to this one!
