The much hyped music album of the year Kisna has finally released.
The reason why there is so much hype..
~ after the stupendous success of Taal album Subash Ghai and AR Rahman have once again collaborated
~ Ismail Darbar who has hits like HDDCS and Devdas is too be seen in this album
~ Subash Ghai for the first time deals with a pre independence subject
~This album is touted to be the best work of rahman and ismail
~Many popular singers like udit, alka, madushree, hariharan, kailesh kher, ustad Rashid khan,sukvinder singh have sung in this album
But finally, the question asked will be is the album good? Has it lived up to the expectations?
Generally in music reviews we tend to write only on track, we tend to forget about the flaps. Kisna audio is rich! It is very attractive. The Cover displays Vivek oberoi with his funny get up, and also a an actress who look more like a zombie!
It has been written A Motion Picture by SUBASH GHAI. It looks more of like Braveheart type!!
The first page features Subash Ghai stating about how the music is created and praises rahman and darbar.
In the second page we have group of dancers in red garments and it is written
IT HAPPENED IN 1947 SOMEWHERE IN NORTH INDIA.
In the third page we have Vivek Oberoi pic?looks good? Vivek Oberoi as Kisna.

Enough of Flaps let us concentrate on the songs.
The music is released on Mukta Music marketed b y Sony Music. It costs 145 ??There are 12 tracks with 5 tracks by ARR and rest by ismail darbar. The lyrics are penned by Javed Akthar.
First let me write on rahman?s track!
Kisna Theme 1 (Instrumental) A R Rahman 0.59
The album starts with this theme music? I must say its magnificent. Beautiful Melody. The tune is Hum hain iss pal tune? It starts with a flute tune supported by pianos. But the major part is played by Naveen?s Flute. But its sad this track is only 59 seconds could have been much more. The tune err.. the style of presentation reminds me of rahman?s Between Heaven and Earth. Excellent start to the album!
Hum hain iss pal yahan Udit narayan, Madhushree 7.06
One interesting thing to note is that we have a additional programming is done by G V Prakashwho sand pal pal hai bhari?this info for rahman fans.
This is the best song of the album! He song starts with a dialogue by Vivek Oberoi. And then we have mild beats like the one in Taal? with some interesting loop sounds of birds chirping. Then Udit sings this wonderful tune..Hum hain iss paal yaah? No wonder the best track is given to him.. Madhushree who is now a regular singer in rahman albums delivers again.The pianos, flutes and the chirping sound of the birds are brilliantly used.
Sound engineers H Sridhar and Sivakumar with Aditya modi are to be congratulated.
The tune is extremely soothing and it has something spiritual in it. Javed akhthar wonder how he is able to produce a gem of lyric in each and every album. A Sure Winner!
Kisna Theme 2 (Instrumental) A R Rahman 3.24
I said earlier, wish the theme music were a bit longer, and rahman answers us.
This track is of 3.24 minutes gives us a wonderful soothing, relaxing music experience.
The tune is same as of Hum hain iss pal yaah? Rahman plays with his keyboard and Naveen plays the same tune with his flute and well supported by Rashid ali with his guitars. It sounds so Beautiful.. . Its awesome.. after a minute the tune changes, we have some original tune. Its extremely catchy and energetic. Treat to music lovers!
My wish comes true Sunita Sarthy (lyrics Blaaze) 5.49
This one is an English track. Sunita Sarathy who had sung an English track in rahman?s between heaven and earth does a terrific job.
Lyrics are handled by Blaaze( B grade rapper). Does a decent job.
It seems the flavor of season is soothing melodies. This track too has beautiful melody. What makes this song special is the arrangements and programming.
Though the tune is western, Indian dholaks and other instruments are used. Naveen is too good. The song ends with some sholaks rendition?I feel so it wasn?t that clear?the one used in first trailor.. Winner!
Kisna Theme (Chorus) 1.15
It is pretty clear subash ghai has given more importance to the Hum yaah track. This one too is similar to the that track and it ends the album. Good!
So A R Rahman, as expected delivers his stuff. We cant say this is his best because he has composed only 2 songs. If he had composed all of them then maybe it could have been his best.
Now its Ismail Darbar to deliver. The music director who had hits such as HDDCS and Devdas would have been under big pressure because rahman is the guest composer everyone would compare it with rahman?s songs and also of late he hasn?t composed much.
Who Kina hai- Sukvinder, Ismail, Ayesha, Shailja 5.53
This song is extremely engrossing. The song has full of north Indian flavour to it. The lyrics are the highlight of this song

Woh hai naatkat who jamunatat
Phere lagaye murli bajaye
Gopiyon ke sang raas rachaye?
Let me also mention Ranjit Barot is the Sound Designeer and this shows in the final output of the song. Sukvinder is good, ayesha and shailaja are adequate. Lovable song.
Tu itni pagli kyun hai udit narayan, alka yagnik, ismail darbar 4.46
sounds like a N-S song? yup? we feel that we have heard this tune somewhere before.
We have some alaaps by ismail and good vocals from Udit and alka.
This song is not going to create any hype. its just a passable track. That?s what I feel? many might love this track? Javed?s lyrics are adequate
Chilman uthegi nahin Hariharan, Alka, Ayesha, Shailaja, Kailash Kher, Rakes Pandit 8.40
It seems Ismail is still in Devdas mood. This tune is extremely pleasing. IT has north Indian flavour. Those who loved Devdas music, will definitely prefer this song. Whatever maybe the outcome of the album, Ismail is indeed a talented musician. I really love this track. Hariharan is just about Ok.. . his voice doesn?t suit these type of songs, others are good. Lyrics are fine.
