Indigestion of all sorts has been troubling me from the last stint I had with the species called Bollywood cinema.  Blame it on my destiny or “kismet” but somehow I just end up watching such craps with limitless enthusiasm. So when I saw the posters of Shahid Kapur giving his perfect coy smile and Vidya Balan, looking a bit out of place, I did not get discouraged and went on like a warrior to face the consequences. I mean worse come worse probably I would just catch on with my beloved partner, sleep.

But nothing and nobody prepared me for this ruined destiny of “Kismat Konnection”.

Shahrukh Khan in his I-know-it-all tone narrates the tale of Raj Malhotra(Shahid kapur), the guy staying in house no 626 but dunno why the camera is stuck on house no 617. Whatever,so the lucky and brilliant Raj suddenly gets unlucky and he needs to find his luck again Did you understand that?  Needn’t  worry even I am still trying to comprehend.

He chances upon Haseena Bano Jaan’s  (Juhi Chawla) TV show proclaiming that she can change destinies, thats another pont altogether that the show is  viewed, during a power failure, whatte a kismet man!! He meets her for a 10 $ advice and she suggests  him to keep his eyes open and recognize his lucky charm when he comes across it ,an indirect way of telling that please remove that billoo kinda hair from your eyes.

Hence Mr. Unlucky dude comes across Miss Lucky Charm Priya(Vidya Balan). A series of incidents like paint boxes missing dumbheads, flying visiting cards landing on appropriate places, snooker played like a poker,  makes him believe that Priya is lucky for him, yippeee!and you thought this guy possessed a brilliant IQ. But between all the love duets, meetings, lucky-unlucky givings stands the darn Community centre, a lovely way of saving money, I must say, no added actor required for the role of the villain.

Not to miss the head of the biggest construction company Mr. Gill(Om puri), who brainwaves  only on nonsense. He runs his office on snooker based opinions, wifey Mrs Gill’s ( Himani Shivpuri)whims and fancies and has no IQ of his own.

Shahid Kapur as mentioned above with the coy smile plastered to his face, has nothing new to offer. He just looks the replica of his earlier roles with the same hairdo, clothes and demeanor. He tries hard to get the female audience sighing on his innocent looks and shedding a tear on his misgivings; but fails miserably.A few places where he tries to blink away that tear and curses God for his fortune, a grin escaped from my face on the false predicament. Though his hilarious attempts to lift up the corners of mouth do succeed few times. But on and on Shahid Kapur probably needs another Jab we Met.

The actual buffoon of the show is Vidya Balan. She looks like a stale bread, and at her terrible best. With a hairstyle resembling that of a plucked chicken , and dark circles screaming of the worst makeup ever. Even her much spoken drastic dressing sense is well displayed.  In few places I could not even decide which was worse, the long hoops resembling curtain hooks , or the huge bangles looking more like a weapon rather than an accessory. Though she manages to show off her long shapely legs strapped in the bow tied sandals but the look achieved is more like an umbrella rather than a shapely guise. Needless to say about her acting skills, she fails the attempt miserably. The hurt look which she gives to Shahid saying “Ek baar try toh kiya hota”, bought me to peals of laughter. Look who’s talking…

Juhi Chawla is probably doing a favor to somebody by acting in this movie. Her role could have been even offered to any XYZ .

Om Puri is at his drastic best. In the quest of being versatile, the actor of such finesse also ends up making such blunders.

Editing and screenplay has no role to play whatsoever coz it can be only noticed, when you are over with the shock of Vidya Balan-who, when and why…

For songs and music description please refer to many reviews available in the category of Kismat Konnection Music, since again they went unnoticed by me in the horror of Vidya Balan.

Aziz Mirza probably was just trying his luck by imitating the concept of “Just my Luck”,but darn his luck. Wish he could have copied the story as it is, coz the effort of spicing up the movie with Indian mirch masala, did nothing to help the lost cause. After hibernating for five years, if this is what he churned out then probably he needs the trip back to hibernation.

So when you take that reckless spree to the movie hall and try to test your luck, Caution!

+ Shahid is irksome and coy some

+ Vidya resembles a dimsum (Ohh I am too good!)

+ The process is too cumbersome!

+ No need to look so winsome,

+ Luck is always not a thing for some poor some….

Moral of the story: Don’t always depend on luck, some efforts are required too, in short “Try toh kiya hota !”

P.S. It took me two days and many failed attempts after which I could write this review ,to match up to the standards of the Couple of MSians I look up to, who master the art of sarcasm.
