Over three hours long! What did you say? A Hollywood movie this lengthy? How come? Well, well don't panic, King Kong, the movie might be 187 mins long...but believe its worth every second. It's a superb, superb movie that comes once in a blue moon. The makers of the films like Lord of The Rings triology have been successful in repeating the history. From the strong foundation of the plot to the actual action ,King Kong is an absolute eye treat throughout.

Call it a remake of the classic 1933 King Kong or a bettered version of the 1978 King Kong....King Kong 2005 cant be compared to the previous two. Simply because of its awe inspiring visual effects, well complemented by some really good acting. King Kong provides for much entertainment. The audience simply goes ooooh and aaaah over many scenes, especially the ones in the jungle where King Kong fights with every other beastly beast! I couldn't stop clapping my hands at one particular scene where our mighty Kong triumphs over a dinosaur.

Need I expound on the plot? Nah!! I don't think there is any need. For King Kong goes beyond mere plot. Peter Jackson, the director, hasn't made the movie in a hurry. The entire movie seemed to have been shot very passionately....paying attention to the minutest details. We are almost one hour into the movie when the King appears first on the screen. But the hour lays the foundation for the next two hours very well. These two hours are full of visually stunning effects and some really thrilling and exciting scences.

Some of the best scenes are:

The dinosuar stampede scene.

King Kong fighting with many animals including some dinosuars.

The last scene....(although its more emotional than anything!!!)

The tribal people in the movie scared the hell out of me. Apart from this the movie has exotic sets and a very good sound effect. But its visual effects and screenplay are its USP. I wouldn't be surprised if Harry Potter looses to King Kong for special effects and screenplay at the Oscars.(Of course this is assuming that both the movies get nominated in these categories....duh!!!)

The Cast:

Naomi Watts: Phew!! Beautiful, beautiful, breath takingly....heart stoppingly beautiful...Oh heck she is sooooo beautiful. And yes she has played 'the-blonde-in-distress' very well. She typically looks like some Hollywood diva of the 1940s-50s...which she should ,for the plot takes place during that period. Her chemistry with the giant Kong is amazing and my heart reached out for her whenever she shed tears. Her sheer presence lightens the screen up. Need I say more.....? By the Way she is Ann Darrow in the movie.

Jack Black: Superb actor. He plays the mean movie maker(Carl Denham) who is so keen and adamant on making the movie that he doesn't give a damn about his crew many of whom die shooting the movie for him. His performance as a person who would go to any extent to fulfill his greediness is laudable. I mean you just can't hate him enough.

Adrein Brody: This Oscar winning actor seems to have been wasted in the movie. He plays the scriptwriter for Jack Black and is Ann Darrow's love intrest. But somehow he's character is not that strong as one might expect. But still, he looks good and methinks he has enacted whatever little came his way very well.

Of all the other supporting cast I kind of wondered what was Jamie Bell doing in this movie. I mean he looked good dancing in Billy Elliot, what was he doing here with guns and saying,''I am not a coward''. Jokes apart....he is a very good actor and a very good dancer and I adore him for his dancing skills. He's somehow a misfit in this action-packed drama, though!!

Finally:What did you say? You are still reading this review? Common guys go catch this movie first thing. Its beautiful, its stunning and yes its emotional. By the way did I say that this movie was 187 mins long? You know what I thought even 187 mins were too short. The director could have easily made a 5 hour long movie and still I would have enjoyed it. So sad the adventure lasted only for three hours.....Yeh dil maange more!!!
