It started as pure fun. During kinetic vehicle-chairman's visit to Hyosung Motors, Kinetic's Korean collaborator for motorcycles, Arun Firodia, Chairman of Kinetic Engineering saw and was fascinated by the stylish, powerful cruiser - the Aquila 250. He imported one vehicle to their headquarters in Pune for Kinetic's R&D department to ride, enjoy and learn about the high tech motorcycle. Few months later, the Aquila was given to the automobile enthusiasts of India with the intention of sharing the pleasure of riding a wonderful motorcycle - it was not planned that the motorcycle would be brought and made available for sale to the Indian consumer.
What happened next, caught the company by surprise. Reading the stories from the magazines, Kinetic began to receive an avalanche of letters, faxes and emails from all corners of the country requesting that the Aquila be brought to the Indian market. Enthused by the overwhelming and unexpected response to the motorcycle, Kinetic discussed and negotiated with Hyosung to bring a limited quantity of the Aquila to the Indian market.
The Aquila 250 is a ''true'' cruiser bike with a 250cc, v-twin, oil cooled engine with 4 valves per cylinder. The output is a stunning 26 bhp of power with a top speed easily crossing 130 kph. The large sized bike has a styling inspired by Harley Davidson's ''Fatboy'' and dazzles with an abundance of chrome. The Aquila gives exceptional stability and balance, and is designed for highly comfortable cruising. As Auto India puts it, ''Every precisely positioned bit displays a conceptual unity and balance, riding experience is completely removed from mundane utility transportation or even the developing sportier models of recent times.''Kinetic believes that it is the best available motorcycle in the country and the only real, true-blue cruiser.
Announcing the launch of Kinetic Aquila, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Jt. The Kinetic Aquila will be available for sale at select Kinetic dealerships in Bombay, Delhi, Pune, Banglore and Chandigarh. There will be a choice of four dual tone color combinations. The company will organize for a warranty, availability of spares and after sales service for the vehicle through a specially conducted comprehensive training of its service engineers. The on-road price for the Aquila is Rs. 1.45 lakh in Bombay.
