Priyadarshan's''Kilukkam'' released during 1990 was a major hit at the box office.Now the new release ''Kilukkam Kilukilukkam''(KKK),is its sequel.
The lead characters of ''Kilukkam'' such as Joji (Mohan Lal), Nischal (Jagathy Sreekumar), Kittunni (Innocent) etc. find place in the new film as well. Joji who marries Nandini (Revathy) in ''Kilukkam'' is now settled in Germany and Nischal continues to languish in Ootty. Kittunni is now a servant in the house of Captain ,Captain raju, whose character is just the same as thilakan, the Judge in ''Kilukkam''.
In Kilukkam , if Joji is been tortured by Nischal always, in KKK its Nischal tortured by Cochin haneefa -a thief. Its bcoz now Nischal is out of work , due to the new technologies and continues to roam the streets toting his antiquated camera, hoping lady luck will smile on him like she did on Joji, and is ever on the look out for a slightly demented girl to change his fortunes. Also he identifies what all he did to Joji ,is being returned to him by cochin haneefa.
It is then that Chandini(Kavya Madhavan) daughter of Mayor of Cochin reaches Ootty. Believing luck at last has come his way, he (Nischal) tries to befriend her. The other characters Royichan (Kunjakko Bobban) and friend Appachan (Salim Kumar) & Balu (Jayasurya) and Ponnappan (Harisree Ashokan) are also after Chandini ...Reason...You have to watch the fim and is very fun to see how they all land up in OOty. Through a series of adventures and misadventures, they finally team up with Nischal and Kittunni, and with Joji, who has flown in specially from Germany to trace the missing Chandini.
The scene were all the comic character disguise themselves to enter the convent in OOty to meet Chandini is very funny. Kittuni as Chandini' mother...wearing saree, Appachan as Sister..wearing sisters uniform , Ponnappan as Priest , Nischal as a foreigner(madama!!) & Cochin Haneefa as a lady Servant...wearing chatta&mundu (traditional wear of old christian women in Kerala).
Music by Deepak Dev is ok. ''OOttipattanam'' sung by M.G.Sreekumar & Chitra & ''Pattonnu padan'' sung by Ranjit, Benny, Smitha, Arjun are well picturised. The second one is my favourite. Lyrics are by Shibu Chakravorthy. cinematography by Salu George is good. ScreenplaY by Udaya Krishna & Sibi K Thomas is ok.
Various attempts are made (dialogues) to link the old film with new one.. Several shots of old film are also shown .For example the scene between Nandini and Kittuni where she fools him saying you have won the lottery . In kkk, Kittuni wins lottery , but thinking he is being fooled again, tores the lottery ticket.
''Kilukkam Kilukilukkam'' has all the makings of a wholesome entertainer,but leaves no impression on us , when we leave the cinema. I enjoyed the first 3/4th of the film.Mohanlal has nothing to do in this film where as he was the all in all in ''kilukam''.
And finally its a good to watch film atleast for my kid(3yrs)as she saw the entire film without complaining about anything!!(we went for a second show )..and gave a big clap when the film was over..and everyone smiled at her seeing this.
