Kill Bill - The Fourth Film my Quentin Tarantino.

Synopsis - Uma Thurman is 'The Bride'. She was a part of an assasination team called DiVas , working for Bill. The Bride was an expert swordswoman. Something goes terribly wrong (we wouldn't know what till Volume 2) and Bill and his assasins mow over The Brides wedding chapel, and kill everyone-execution style. The Bride, who was pregnant back then, survives this and goes into a coma for four years. She wakes up with one aim : KILL BILL. Of course, she kills scores of others on the way.

Review :

Volume 1, shows the bride killing two of her accomplices - Green Viper - Vivicia Fox and O-Ren-Ishi - Lucy Liu .

To start out with Kill Bill doesn't have the typical Tarantino look. This movie is high on action and gloss. It is colorful and fast paced. The wit here is not in dialogues as in other QT movies, but in the actions of the protoganist. QT touts this as a homage to all the Oriental B-movies, and Bruce Lee flicks. But Kill Bill is more than just that.

Uma Thurman excels in a totally author backed roll. Micheal Madsen's appearance will be sorely missed ( After the excellent Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs). Don't walk into the theater with a typical QT movie in mind--this one is not.

Kill Bill is a witty cut-em-up style movie. The visuals are dotted by bloody fountains and sword-fights. Chopped up limbs fly in the air, but all the violence does not seem like violence. It looks comical at times, looks pure art at other times. The screen suddenly changes from color to black and white, the blood flow seems to tone down, and suddenly we are fighting in sillhouettes. Tarantino proves that he is God among directors, by playing with the visual senses. He proves his mettle in a genre he hasn't attempted before.

As usual he employs great music to further his scenes and add an ambience to them. This is a must watch for QT fans. If you loved his previous works, you are bound to love this. This movie relies heavily on the non-linear screenplay and the gloss. There is no story or plot involved, in volume 1. We might see more of that in the second and concluding part of the movie -- Kill Bill Volume 2, which hits theaters in February.
