Revenge!  How long you will keep your grudges?   Are you like a snake which we believe keeps the grudge till life's end?    How far you will follow the person who has harmed you?   While taking revenge, did you ever stop to think that our action is no less than the crime our enemy is committed?   When we insult people, accuse others and take them to justice without hearing their pleas of 'sorry' did we ever realize that even one day we may come to the same stage and ask for the pardon?  Kidnap' is a story of a sweet revenge by an orphan boy for the sufferings he had to undertaken in the juvenile home for a small (?) mistake he has committed.

Sonia (Manisha Lamba) is the only daughter of Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt) and Dr. Mallika (Vidya Malvade).    Vikrant is a billionaire but their marriage life is in trouble.   Sonia is now with her mother but she tries every trick in the kitty to call Papa back home.  The stubborn mother however doesn't move an inch.  AT this junction, Sonia is kidnapped by Kabir (Imran Khan) to take a revenge on Vikrant Raina.   A game starts now, where there is no police or any other person.  One to one game betweenVikrant and Kabir starts on Kabir's terms.  If Vikrant win the game, he will get the daughter as reward.  If not?  The movie is all about why Kabir wanted to kidnap Sonia, how the game will end up?

The movie is one of the kinds which keep you hooked to the screen all the time.  Each turn and each moment there is something happening.  Pace is the face value of the movie, which don't permit you to come to your logical senses to check facts and figures.   The thin story begins on a Christmas day and the climax is on the New Year Night.    Till the end the movie keep us guessing and at the end of it, when we turn back, we may find many faults but while watching we enjoyed it.      If a movie can be watchable for the story, suspense, pace and performance, this is it.  The writer did a good job for the film.  The characterization is perfect but selection of incidents and situations could have been little more organised.  Director gives a mixed signal.  There are extremely brilliant and breath taking scenes in the movie where few silly scenes too.   Probably the director may select a good chase master for the car chase etc. and an editor who know how to cover up such faults, next time.

The movie is blessed with wonderful display of performance.  The entire film is been sabotaged by Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan.   Brilliant!  Superb!!    Powerful performance by Sanjay Dutt, which would have kept any youngster imbalanced, but not Imran Khan!  If we are impressed with his performance in Jaane Tu, in Kidnap he doubled his performance to prove that he is not a one time wonder.   The youngster stands tall shoulder to shoulder with Sanjay Dutt.   Now it is more than confirmed the arrival of a new super star, he can perform.   Manisha Lamba    The innocent Bachna Ae Haseeno girl is not that innocent in the movie.  She gives a performance suited for the character but with lot of glamour.  Her costumes could have been better.  (The producer must have saved a lot of money on that account.)    The Chak De Girl Vidya Malvade too did a good job.  The only problem for her role was that it was little difficult to digest her as the mother of Manisha Lamba.  Rest of the cast was sufficient.

Music didn't have much say in it and it was not that impressive.   Choreography was ok, just to suite the mood.  The car chase and the train chase scenes could have been much better.   At the same time, the one to one chase between Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan was the best!   Never seen such a close chase for long!   Cinematography worth all applauds.    Top class!

On the negative side, editing of the movie could have been better.   The story has many loop holes.   A boy who was in juvenile home with all the sufferings come out and become an IT expert in years is hard to believe.   Also he moves out in car, carry gun and all these may raise eye brows.   On the 5th day Kabir gets bullet wounds and unconscious and the 6th day he is perfectly alright without any sign of it.  You can find many of them in the film, but the pace of the film and the suspense keep the audience disengaged from such questioning to look for the next incident.

Few brilliant scenes from the movie:

  1. The chase between Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan over the construction site.

2.Manisha Lamba's action soon after the seductive number song.

3 Imran Khan's knife action display.

4.Imran Khan's encounter (at end) with Rahul Dev.

  1. Sanjay Dutt's looting of money and the escape.

  2. The Climax.  Which almost take you by surprise and Imran Khan would have loved if the makers decided to end the movie 5 minutes earlier than the present end!

Yes…there are more in the store…

Overall the movie is recommended to one and all looking for a good entertainer this weekend for its suspense, good situations and brilliant performance.    Sanjay Gadhavi has a winner in KIDNAP.    Recommended!!
