Though I have seen a whole lot of movies in recent times, it's been just over ten months I reviewed a movie here on MS and it feels nice to be back to share my views on the new Salman starrer Kick. I know by now you guys would have all watched the movie or at the least read the reviews by others given the fact that this is such a high budget, superstar driven and much anticipated movie of this year. I am not going to delve much into the plot of the movie as its all over the place now and also available on Wikipedia. So let me stick to my way of writing a movie review which is to talk of the experience of watching this flick in the theatre and also highlight some personal opinion on the film.

I wanted to watch this flick on the day of its release but then all of a sudden decided to postpone it for today as I was in the mood of reading some books in the previous week. The other reason I thought of postponing it for today was keeping in mind the low ticket prices on a Monday. However, to my dismay when I went to INOX, I learnt that there was no change in prices at all due to Ramadan holiday season. I had already seen Ravi Teja starrer Kick and so I already knew the plot and I was more in to watch it for the performances and twists to the original plot, if any.

First things first, we need to understand that most movies are not for the logical minds and there is not much to get into the science of the plot and the screenplay. Even after saying that I need to say that this movie is not for those who want to make practical sense out of the story. Its mostly for those who want to go to the theatre, watch their favorite hero Salman do a bit of comedy, action and romance and spend a couple of hours and get back to work.

This movie was made for Salman and that proves all throughout. Very much to his real life image, even in the movie he does all things including getting into fights, going to prison, drinking alcohol but ultimately proves that he is a man with a golden heart on a noble mission to help humanity. In the movie, Salman is an adrenaline junkie and has quit many jobs each time stating that he doesn't get any kick in those jobs and he has no clue what will get him that kick that he is so madly after. This eventually leads him to a stage where he has to break up with his lover and its after that our superman hero discovers his passion for helping the ailing children by looting money from the corrupt. The flick portrays his Robin Hood efforts that gives him the kick he is looking for in his life.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is such an amazing actor and does his part as a lead antagonist so absolutely well. Randeep Hooda plays a cop attempting to stop Salman from his endeavors and I felt he just did justice to his role but wasn't that sensational either. Jacqueline Fernandez looks stunning in a few scenes and just about normal in others. I liked roles of Mithun Chakraborty as Salman's father and Saurabh Shukla as Jacqueline's and that is all I have to comment on the star cast.

There is no twist to the plot in this movie that is a remake of a Telugu flick. Screenplay is almost the same but there are a few edits here and there. Music composed by Himesh Reshammiya for the song "Jumme Ki Raat" is likeable and the rest of the songs will fade from your memory very soon. Salman and Jacqueline do show us some dancing moves but its Jacqueline who sizzles when she dances in the song mentioned.

There is no recommendation required by anyone(forget the silly me) for a Salman Khan movie as those who are his fans will watch and enjoy this flick anyways and those who aren't can easily skip this movie as it isn't a "must-watch" kinda flick. Regardless to what anyone might say, I am sure this too will reach the multi-crore club that commercial movies are after.

What explains the monstrous success of Salman's movies at the box office is a very mysterious question. Salman delivers these lines at the end of the flick worth noting - “Mere baare mein itna mat sochna. dil mein aata hoon. samajh mein nahin.”
