A movie to be watched and re-watched... Review on Khuda Gawah

Hi Friends, till I didn't watch this movie I was of the opinion that it's a trash but yesterday when I was browsing Television channels I came across it and the kind of canvas its been portrayed captivated my attention at that instance only. The movie started and in no time I got so much involved in the movie that I didn't feel like skipping even a single shot.

i don't remember if any movie caught my attention to such an extent after LAMHE, a classic by Yash Sahab.

Story in the nutshell: -

Baadshah Khan falls in love with the beauty Benazir when she defeats him in the game -BUZKASHI. But Benazir won't marry him till he gets her the head of her father's killer. baadshah promises her the head and lands up in India where the man is to be executed. He takes him off th execution place and kills him but is caught at the same time. Baadshah promises to come back and goes off to Afghanistan. He's married and well settled when one fine day he tells Benazir about the hwole incident. Benazir is taken aback but lets her SHAUHAR go.

she waits for him but he do not return. Consequently she goes mad and her daughter Mehndi grows up. She comes to India in search of her father but will she find hin and if at all she finds him will he come back home. The relatives of the man he killed, will they leave him and Benazir..to know all thses questions watch the movie..I am sure that you will enjoy it.

Performance: -

Sri Devi was offered many roles with Amitji but she declined most of them saying that in a movie where you have Amit, what's there for any heroin to do and she was right till this movie came. Equal portions given to both the protogonists.

Amit Sahab, gave one of the best performances and once again proved that he is too versatile to get trapped in one image. He did what most of the actors would have failed to ahow on screen. His expressions, image, everything was fantastic. He became a PATHAN while doing the movie, none of us can't believe that he's not a pathan by birth, thats te charm of this actor.

Sri Devi: -

What to say about her. She is the BEST actress in Bollywood. If any heroin who could match or ,if not exagerratin, surpass Amitabh then its none other than our SRI. What a great performance she delivers. She plays double role with such versatility that nobody can stop praising her. If you belive the GRAPEVINE then she was offered a role Steven Spielber's movie. Many French directors offered her role in their movies after Lamhe and Khuda Gawah.

But she always kept quite, never let her hair fall.....

Trivia: -

The producers originally planned to fly down musicians from Afghanistan to record the background music pieces of the film, but the plans were scrapped. For a song of Khuda Gawah, recorded on June 17, 1989, Amitabh Bachchan participated in the music sittings on June 14, 15 and 16 at his Juhu bungalow from 7 to 10 p.m. along with music directors Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Sanjay Dutt was signed to play the role of Inspector Raja Mirza, but he dropped out of the project after shooting some of his scenes.

Farha was initially approached to play Inspector Henna Ranveer Singh.

The producers hired 20 air-conditioners to keep the atmosphere cool because of the thick woolen costumes.

Errors in geography: The people of Afghanistan cross the border into India. But Pakistan is between Afghanistan and India.

Continuity: When Mehndi comes to India by plane, the car shown coming of plane is Toyota Corona which she was driving earlier. But subsequently, she is driving a Datsun.
