I learnt Java script from Khan Academy. The academy provided good basics on the subject. Activity section is very good. We can change the code and see the changes in the output in the activity section. The reference section is also good. There is a quiz after the completion of every unit. We can go to the previous section if we are not satisfied with our progress.
Sign up is not necessary but we can track our progress if we sign up. They also send email alerts regarding our subject. I want to donate to Khan Academy but they are accepting donations only through credit card and Paypal . I don't have any credit card. Paypal is not accepting any debit card issued by local banks. Khan Academy should accept donations from Indian local banks as well.
