Second fan in the series is Khetan, which specializes in all types of fans from ceiling, table to exhorts fans. The Bajaj fan I reviewed had a lot of technical faults like the size and shape of rotor blades. If the blades are broad and flat then there would be least air resistance and the motion would be a pure rotation and no airflow. With some squeaks and noise the fan would be of no use. In order to generate a good flow the blades need to bent in an angle so as to maximize the flow and that to in all directions. More bending wouldn’t be good either since then air resistance will come in to play increasing the load on the motor. I’m sure these companies must be having computer simulations and wind testing before bringing on the product in the market. Also the slightly exceeding air resistance could make the shaft or the central rotor to wobble messing up the whole process and giving minimum efficiency. I’m sure achougoo being Electrical Engineer knows a lot more in this motor field. I don’t like those Ele- starting subjects. I remember performing horribly in my Electrodynamics and Electromagnetism course. I still wonder how I cleared it. Let by gone be by gone and come to topic under consideration.

The fan costs around 1k Rs. and is white in color. The blades are very thin and slightly non aerodynamic. That’s necessary to sale the fan. I don’t know the exact peak RPM speed but it’s higher than Bajaj. May be Bajaj fan in our house has become too old and lost some speed. Also I said we have repainted it and over oiled it couple of time. These factors must be affecting the original specification of RPM value. Khetan is relatively new. We bought it for the Kitchen room when we shifted to our new block. The color choice was a weird one. Since kitchen is the place where wall and things get dirty soon because of smoke and regular factors. And worst than white color for such a place. Later I made it shift in my room and the old brownie Bajaj was shifted to kitchen.

No fancy gold ring stuff on the fan. Old fans had a lot of fancy showings on the fan. My friend had fan with a big show lamp at the center of fan. So every time you switch on the fan the light is also lit. Idea was good from style and look point of view. But peak speed is less in such fans and the airflow sort of unidirectional and under the fan only. Khetan gives uniform air and the area covered is very wide. I even see the distant curtains moving by the effect of the fan.

The fan comes with a 7 years guarantee. Of course the guarantee is limited one and company doesn’t replace the parts. It has guarantee for the motor and against the manufacturing defects. The regulator is the continuous one I mentioned in my previous review. There are in all 7 levels marked on for the speed with 7th being the top speed. The top speed is tremendous and I fear the fan might fall down or I will get thrown away in the corner. The sound at top speed is fearsome and the wobbling is more. I never put it at this speed even if I have come desert of Sahara. In winter cold conditions the low speed is also cold enough. But still I put it on with thick rugs on. I can’t sleep without the melodious noise of the fan.

The guarantee period had not passed yet. We bought it in 1996 July or so. The fan is working fine and hasn’t given a problem yet. It even doesn’t produce squeaks. So from the durability point of view its good. The cost is also not that high. Design is cool and sleek. So what else do we need? Go For It!
